Got one in a package deal. When you let go of the trigger it stops spinning pretty quick. There's no bearing noise or grinding sounds.

It's actually quieter than any other circular saw I've ever used. Is it supposed to stop spinning real quick like that?

Yes, it's a worm drive. The interaction of the worm gear and the driven gear causes a rapid deceleration once the motor is no longer supplying motion power.

And make sure that the gear lube is OK. Both the oil level and the condition.

Yes, the saw needs oil changes. No oil filter though. :lol_hitti

Wait, I change the filter at every oil change, are you saying you don't? :):)

Oh, you got the R edition saw. That version has the oil filter as a factory option.

Get the Track-Option and that includes the oil cooler too.

Go dry sump. It’ll rev quicker and you’ll pick up a couple hundred more RPM

If the weather is cold, they will spin quite slow before warming up. I run mine a couple minutes before putting under load. You can hear the RPMs pick up as the oil warms.

Ah, just put a K&N air filter on it and some yellow (or is it red?) striping on it.

Good for at least 100 HP for the filter and another 50 HP from the stripes.

10 tooth input spline or 26 tooth?

Try an M22Z with a 2.98 first gear, instead of the 2.20 dog that GM put in their M22's. Not even the 4.10s could really overcome that 2.20 first, usually had to go to a 4.56 in the rear to get a good off-the-line launch. Traction is an issue though. :lol_hitti

Mine does not stop spinning pretty quick. It has no electric brake, so therefore there is some run-on after the trigger is let go. I can actually cut through a 2x4 immediately after letting go of the trigger.

if you think the MAG 77 is nice, check out the MAG 70... saw both of them in the clearance isle at the local HD... MAG77 is $199 and MAG 70 (SPT70V-11) is well $500... but makes the MAG 77 looks like a dwarf.
