Does anyone here familiar with the Skil brand know exactly which serial numbers align with which years of production?

This includes the legendary Skilsaw 77, and its larger counterpart, the 825.

I have some serial #s to aid you here:
Model 77, Type 15, Serial J338101, Date Code SHP3
Model 825, Serial A249101

Of course, we shouldn't forget all about the special editions like the 50th Anniversary gold-plated version of the 77 from 1987.

Thank you,

Ben

Did you ever get a resolution to this question? I recently bought an worm drive from a thrift store for $20 (mainly just because it was in the original case) and it seems like it might be pretty valuable from what I can find online about it. I'm trying to get a little more info on it. It's model 825 serial number B155365. Any new info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I found myself here looking for similar information. My father passed a few years ago and in such, I now have his Skilsaw model 77. It looks very similar to the 825. Same black and orange ID plate, same orange electric motor contact covers My father was a carpenter starting back in the early 60's. We used to have the tool box that goes with that saw, but I have not seen it in some time.

Model 77 Ser #B133109

Ultimately I'd like to get new bearings for it and a new seal.

The best info I have found is that model 15 was made as late as the late 70's. I think type 16 was made to about 85'.

Any help finding new parts for this saw would mean a lot to me.

I have two Model 77's, one owned by my stepfather. S/N's A408732 (black tag) and 746751 (blue tag). I, too, am trying to determine dates of manufacture. Any help would be appreciated.
