Hello All. My first time posting. So here's my question. I'm adding a shop with a concrete floor to my existing pole barn outside one corner, like an addition. However, past the floor of the new part along one length I'll be pouring will be a concrete apron, almost like a patio, which will be poured at the same time. The patio slab will be about 2"-3" lower than the steel building's floor. My question is, how do I handle the Skirt board along the bottom? I'm laying the posts and slab prior to putting up the walls and I'll be using the skirt board as the form for the cement pour, which will be great for the other 2 new sides, but not so easy on the side with the patio thing.
I don't imagine it would be advisable to use the skirt board as the form where the patio slab will be right? In other words, this would sandwich the skirt board between the patio and the building floor. As I said, the skirt board would still stick up about 2-3 inches so I can attach the vertical steel to it, but it just doesn't seem right. Or would it be better for me to pour both slabs at the correct height and then just attach the skirt board later.
