Quick update.

Was able to make it up to our land this weekend and got a few hours in plowing myself out and doing some insulation. Oh I also made a 10ft workbench at home and hauled it up!
Garage doors haven't been installed yet because the contractor ordered them wrong twice now and I caught it both times before they got installed, should have them in next week! Fingers crossed!

Had some time to get up north to the shack this weekend!

we now have our doors. CHI insulated!


Also had them install some openers!


I was also able to finish what I could of the 3 walls in my living quarters with its first round of r7.5 1 1/2 foam insulation!


Also had the electrician out today and made plans to have 8- 2'x4' 6 bulb T8 high bay lights installed in the shop area & install motion security lights above both garage doors!

Thanks! The shop is going to be for our tractor & some of its implements, our Polaris rzr and any vehicle we drive up when the weathers bad. I would like to get some wood working tools & a welder at some point also!

There are two separate openers, keypads and vehicle remotes. The reason for the two different style openers was that our 10x10 door is a high lift door so we needed a side mount opener!

this damn thing was heavy.

the stand is 100yards from the barn so it's a good stand for my wife to hunt while our kids grow up plus the baby monitor should work from there lol

Our property is a work in progress to have an attractive spot for the does & fawns to hang around thus durn rut hopefully get a mutate buck to come out of the big woods within bow range.
Last year both me & my wife had a handful of chances to harvest some 2.5-3 year old bucks that might have scored in the 140-145 class ,but we made the decision not to shoot them and let them grow and spread there seed. Hunting in the north woods of Wisconsin has become very tough with our cold snowy winters & lack of food.
Both me & my wife have seen countless timberwolves while hunting and many trail cam photos. There has been no doe hunting in the last 4 seasons in our zone it's so bad. With that being said I can see a big change of the amount of deer we see while hunting from when we first bought the property 5 years ago.we also have a huge number of black bears that kill a lot of our newborn fawns.
It's not uncommon to walk our small 40ac property and see a bear or two etc in a weekend and there are sometimes more bear pictures on the cams than deer some weeks.

my buddy shot this 12pt opening morning of 2016 rifle season, I think it was a 4-5year old deer with a 13in inside spread nothing special and it got second in our local taverns buck pool lol.

fantastic getaway location and nice idea with the food plot... Huge acknowledgment for letting the deer grow their population! There are a bunch of deer who hang out at my 4 acre chunk of land.

This place is built for a hunting cabin/shack it's only going to be 1200sf and would never fit all our stuff. Going from a 3500sf 3 level house to a 1200 hunting shack would be like putting 10 pounds of **** in a 5 pound shack! The other problem is that I'm 34 and my wife's 28 and we are just starting a family and have many years left of working. The jobs are few & far up there and we would both take huge pay cuts

Thanks for the info on the wildlife, I've been able to get back into hunting now that we have our own land and am loving it. Hopefully your food plot will help them out in the coming years as well. Keep at the barndominium and keep us updated.

New updates!!!!

They finally finished the sheet rock division wall from the shop & living quarters!


Also hulled up more foam insulation to finish the inside of the fire wall.


It's been a warm weekend in northern Wisconsin. 35deg so with the torpedo heater we got it up to 60 inside the living quarters while I worked, my daughter was tired so she took a nap lol


Started to install the rest of the lock sets on the doors and these keyless entry deadbolts!


We are still up here till Monday so I'll have more pictures once I get off my *** & stop playing around in the woods & drinking lol

Made sometime for shooting yesterday. My buddy came up to help with the barn/ drink all my wild turkey.

He brought up his new rifle. Marlin 1895 in 45/70 government!




Then we did some shooing with his suppressed ar15!!!

Made it up to the shack on Sunday & spent the night inside with the warm weather.
We had rain in the forecast so I hooked up some drain tile to the down spouts until I can rent a mini excavator and install it for real.
It's a damn mess up here with the warm weather we have been having & then we got 2in of rain today!
Found some time before the rain to fire up the stihl and clear out an opening to the small pond behind the cabin.

Had to make a fire after I took out the trees!

Monday morning I found a set of wolf tracks right past the shack from the night before the size of my fist, wish I would have taken a picture before the rain killed them

Been slow moving at the shack. We did get a few more outlets installed by the workbench and I also installed an air hose reel and an extension cord reel.

I also started to rough in all the rest of the outlets set at bench height around the shop and set some 2x4s in between the trusses with single gang boxes for the high bay t8 shop lights.


Picked this baby on line from Walmart and did in-store pickup lol. $550 for a new porta potty was a bargain in my mind!

Bought a new glock 19 and did some shooting this weekend also
had to put the ladder in the bed of old red to get up high enough lol.

Quick update.

Electrician was out again and we got the whole shop wired now. 2 gang boxes on every post, total over kill but oh well.

Also got all my 6 bulb t8 lights hung but one of the boxes of bulbs had 28 of the 30 bulbs broken lol.

We also had 2 defiant led motion lights installed above both garage doors but I forgot to take pictures of them. Lights work great and are Bluetooth adjustable!

Also hulled up an old reception desk from the Chevy dealership I work for to use as a bar!

Few updates over the last few weeks

had the plumbing roughed last week.




Started painting some old cabinets to match my Chevy bar but ran out of paint!

Concrete guys stopped by while we were up for the weekend to do the final grade work, lay down the 8mm poly and the 2" of foam.
