I bought this on Amazon recently. It's a wireless electrical remote control, which means you can plug any electric item (within reason) and remotely switch it on and off.
I didn't know what to expect since it was only $18, but have to say I've been very pleased with it. Does exactly what it says. This one has a range of 100 feet, the other model has an external antenna and has a range of 500 feet.
I wired it (for now) to my attic lights, that way the lights are on with a click of a button without having to reach for the switch upstairs.
