I recently got this ratchet in a lot that I won on ebay. It is a 1/4" drive ratchet and is stamped "Skyway". If I didn't know better, I would swear it is a custom job. I haven't came up with much in the way of information on GJ or Google. Has anyone seen one of these before or have any information on it?

Oddly there is a Skyway Tools in California, but they don't seem to sell tools branded Skyway.

Cool find. ^ That could be Skyway Precision Tools. I don't know much about them but if you look around you will see their preset torque socket drivers and torque wrenches.

Big question, is it a decent ratchet?
It is barely decent. It is smooth but has lots of back drag and a single pawl that only engages one tooth. It is a 24 tooth design. I will take it back apart tomorrow and get some pics of the internals while I have it apart looking for ways to reduce the back drag.

Well if anything it's a cool collector piece.

I really want to like this ratchet, but the back drag is awful. Here's a few pictures of the internals.

Funny, that's how I felt about the 1/2" Armstrong ratchet I bought last year. I ended up so disappointed I gave it to a good friend of mine who's budget doesn't allow for new tools. He loves it :)
