So I got my slab poured this past Friday and everything went swimmingly. The slab looks great and now I just play the curing waiting game.

The problem is on the left side of the slab the concrete guys were supposed to fill in some tree holes and gaps, but I was left with the pictures below. I know my GC will not be happy, but want to get the forums feedback as to what kind of job we're looking at to get this looking smooth and decent. I have my fingers crossed that he'll handle it professionally, but want to go into my conversations with some knowledge.

A concrete sub isn't responsible for grading or final clean up. I think the truck driver washing out the drum is responsible for most of the mess.

In the current environment, the fact that you got anyone to work on a small garage, much less act as a GC, means you are have hired to lowest of bottom barrel fly by night companies. Considering that, the slab finish looks "ok" and the poor clean up is a given. The ramp looks awful.

Is that Where the driver washed out? Depending on the site they may wash in a wheel barrow or the conc guy supplies a washout bag or bin, sometimes a hole but never just washout on the ground, that’s a mess. If the conc guy did that I’d tell him come clean it up.

Harsh, but true.

When I had my slab poured, the driver wanted to wash out either in my yard or the backlane. I told him that wasn't happening and he better hurry back to his plant to washout. In my opinion, washing out without asking the property owner or on city property is about the most ignorant thing a concrete truck driver could do.

Drivers always try to get away with washing out the whole drum, only supposed to wash the shoot. Here in nyc it’s costly if they get caught, i have a laborer show then where to wash and stay with them till they’re done.

For a house build near me they set up a pool using some boards and a sheet of plastic for the truck to wash into. I think I'll borrow that idea next time rather than letting the driver wash out onto my property.

Definitely not the drivers fault. My guess is the finisher overfilled the form; raked off the excess and made a half-hearted attempt to smooth out the spill over. I'd be looking to the finisher for a resolution - He definitely wouldn't get paid until it was cleaned up.
