Finally poured my 42x25 slab this saturday. Very experienced commercial crew that does the big box stores. They did a fantastic job and the slab looked amazing after the final burnish.

They brought in a softcut saw and cut the lines immediately after the final burnish- again amazing job- no chips and tight straight cuts.

Finally- they cleaned all the residual cutting dust and applied a curing sealer. The sealer looks like ****! I understand it's purpose and I'm sure it's great for the slab... but once cured... it's gotta go.

Anyone done this? does the sealer need to be stripped before putting on something esle? I don't need a polished surface but I did want a very smooth bare concrete surface that wound be effected by welding slag or steel wheeled jacks. Right now it looks like the sealer is on top if the concrete- not penetrated in?

I feel your pain this is mine 9 months later. Wish I didn't ask for a cure/sealer.

I had the same experience with Cure n Seal from my Contractor. Slab looked great, then they sprayed the sealer on and they didn't get it applied evenly. Thick areas were very dark and thin areas were light. I could see small bubbles in the thick areas, showing just how thick they sprayed it. I rolled on Xylene and used a scrub brush and quickly pressure washed it off before the xylene dried/evaporated. This took about 6 applications before all of the cure n seal was removed (you can see a white gummy film when pressure washing, which is the sealer). My challenge was I was doing one panel at a time (10'x12'), by the time I rolled the xylene on thick and used a scrub brush quickly on the entire area, the xylene would start to dry. Good luck....

I don't know what the product was. I'm sure it was top notch commercial stuff as this crew nothing but the best of everything. I'm really really pleased with what and how they did the job. It's just the sealer that finish that I'm not happy with.

Even so- I wouldn't change anything as I'm confident they knew their business and told my the sealer would help the cure and make watering optional. I'm just bummed cuz the slab look SO good before the sealer. I just want to let it do it's job for about a month and then get it off and perhaps do a densifer?

Natural- yes, i've been keanly watching your other post.

The crew that finished my floor rolled a coat of curing sealer on after the concrete was hard enough to safely walk on. It looked pretty bad at first and I was concerned as well. Slowly over the first month or two it evened out or went away and looks great now. I cant see any splotchy spots now.
