Slab prep under tiles

I have added a third bay to a two car garage for a shop and am in the process of doing the finishes. The slab was placed and water cured so that there would be no problems with VCT placement on top of sealers. I have now come across some “drain thru” 12”X12” interlocking tiles that were used in someone’s shop for a very reasonable price so I purchased them for the shop and maybe have enough for the other two bays. These tiles are similar to RaceDeck Free Flow tiles.

So now for my main question. Most of the tile are black with some reds. May have enough red to checker board the shop and do the daily driver garage in all black. I planned to use all white VCT so the shop would be very bright and I could easily find stuff that falls from the project car. Now with black tiles I am thinking of painting the garage floor of the shop with a white paint and then place the tiles so at least the little bit of floor that shines up through the drain thru holes will be reflective of the light. I would also like to keep the option of tossing the tiles and later placing VCT. I am afraid if I paint the floor it would make install of VCT later require full acid/stripping of the paint. I am also afraid if oil hits the bare concrete with no sealer or paint or something that it would be almost impossible to remove the oil so the VCT would stick.

Am I worrying too much? Should I just leave the concrete bare and if I decide later that I want the VCT just go and clean up what spills may have been there? Thanks for any advise, I am not sure I relayed my questions very well but hopefully someone understands.

Hmm, well, I am not sure that it would matter that much. Not much reflectivity comes through that floor.

You could always get the laminate floor underlayment. I did that with my solid coin top Racedeck and it is great. Find the white stuff, tape all the seams and it will add the reflectivity (if any) and protect the floor from stains etc.
