Slab Settled

Concrete is 30+ years old and was done in 3 pours, each section 12' x 100'. My shop we walled off at 34'. One section 12' x 34' has settled at joint, pretty much 1/2" with highest point no taller than 5/8"....so rolling jacks, cherry picker, etc kinda *****.

Short of grinding it, any other solution?

Is it done settling? And the thought of grinding 5/8" off concrete is ..... well that is a lot of concrete!

I said 30+, i'd imagine more around 50+ on the age. I'm sure its not going anywhere anymore. Yes, grinding 34' in length 10" wide to feather it..... is something i don't even want to attempt,lol. What about chiseling it?

Can you fill it? You might be able to chisel enough out to get 1" or more fill. Then fire in some hilti's, wind some wire around them to act as tie rod.

Another option would be to get something like a hardwood or even some plastic shape it like a wedge and glue that down to the concrete.

Check into concrete jacking, should be simple to have it done and then you end up with a solid slab with no fear of a patch popping up or cracking.

If you haven't seen this before they drill a series of holes and use a high pressure pump to force grout under the slab and raise it back into place.

The industry term is mud jacking. Time is money and it doesn't take a lot of time.

I've mud jacking is expensive. Does anyone know how much it does cost?

I had a double driveway that had dropped about 1-1/2". I lived with going over the bump with garbage cans, dollies, welders and anything else that had small wheels for 10 years before I had it mudjacked. I cannot believe I waited so long when the guy charged me $230 and said he would come back at no charge and adjust it if it settled. That was 5 years ago and still super flat across the joint.
