While waiting the 3 weeks for my new top box to arrive, i have had my sockets in the top drawer of the bottom box. I cant stand it! I actually miss my old box....kinda

I feel your pain.I just recently went from a top and bottom to just a bottom.I have all my sockets in the top drawer but find it very annoying. The sockets are just that little bit to low for me to be able to see the sizes easily. My eyes aren't what they used to be and the lights in our shop reflect off the top of the Hansen pegs and obscure the writing.I just ordered two 26" wide top chests last week to put on the bottom cabinet so I'll be able to have things at the height I want again.Having to bend down all day to open drawers that I shouldn't have to bend for drives me nuts.I've often said I could never understand people working out of just a bottom roller and after 2 mths of doing it,I've had enough of it.

this might be a dumb question, but

do any of you use a service cart, and keep the tools you use most on it?

i worked in the rebuild room at a contruction eq dealership, the only time i opened my toolbox was to get a torque wrench, or grab a special driver, or test fitting.
i kept the tools i used daily on a cart.
i drive a service truck now, and keep a cart at the shop if i'm working in there.

:dunno:

I can tell the sizes of the sockets just from looking at the tops of them. I'm sure I'm not the only one that can....

Our shop doesn't have the room to be able to run carts with all the other stuff we have crammed in it now.

My boss would **** a brick if i showed up with a tool cart. He's already saying i should get snap on to take this box back and get a smaller one. He shakes his head every time he walks by it. He's the type that thinks a 26" wide box is all you need......

You look plenty tall enough to reach the top compartment ... I don't see what the problem is. :headscrat

I looked at the specs before i ordered the set and thought i was tall enough too, but i'm not. At my shop, we are very fast paced, and i really really miss my fast access to my sockets. Maybe its because i put them back when i'm done with them? I try to put my tools away after every job. Right now i'm in and out of my socket drawer steady....

This weekend i'll be building a lowering subframe. Stay tuned for pics.

Same here. my sockets are all in my top box, as are my wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets. I couldn't work out of just a bottom box.

i thought that i could never have just a bottom, but i picked up a KRL722 and just use it as my cart now. I re-arranged to move my machinist type stuff, and things that aren't used very often over to a 70's craftsman box. Only top box i have is a Kennedy that my lathe bit, and tools are in. I couldn't be happier. Only thing i need to do now is finish the top for my 722.
