Slanted Floors

I moved into new construction about 5 mos ago and am starting to finish the garage. One thing Im wondering about is these slightly slanted cement floors found in new construction today to assist water evacuation. I dont know the percentage of slant, but if I release the emergency brake on the car it will start to very slowly roll backward toward the garage door, and a bubble level confirms the slight slant.

What kind of consideration do I need to give this floor situation when considering open shelving? Im likely going to go with some kind of basic 72"H x 36"W x 18"D shelves x 2 side by side to start.. Each unit will come with 5 shelves and I will use them such that the units will be facing perpendicular to the garage door opening, ie, such that the slant downward goes from right to left as you look head on at the shelves.

The shelves have no leg level adjusters and are about as basic as you can imagine. Im thinking either just use install them and use them, or, perhaps if needed, shim them a bit. Aside from the top of the shelves being at a slight angle when viewed against the junction of the wall and the ceiling, do you know of any structural or other types of issues these shelves might be prone to given the slight floor slant? Thanks.

paul, take a level and lay it on the floor, raising it untill the bubble is between the lines and measure between the floor and bottom of the level. if your level is 4', and ya have a inch diff. then at 3', you will have 3/4" (4' divided by 4 = 1/4"). ive also found on free standing shelves that if ya find a stud and shoot a screw in the top shelve to the stud that it will stablize it a bunch!

Couldnt you just cut down the two legs on the higher side?

I imagine it would be a small cut. Maybe 1/4"-1/2"?

Just shim them as needed. You may find that they need to be shimmed front to back as well.

lol, sometimes your looking to hard at the trees to see the forest. happens to everyone. thats why i love this place, i learn and get ideas all the time off of here.

If you want the shelves level, shim them. If you don't care that they are off-level a little, just sit them on the floor.
My garage has a sloped floor. I leveled my refrigerator and my air compressor. Pretty much everything else leans with the floor. I don't care if my shelves are leaning 1/4" or so.

if your really loading the shelves i would also attach them to the walls for added security
