I bought 4 sheets off the local classifieds from a store close out. Already painted and some was never even hung, for $25/sheet.

HD sells it new and unpainted for $50/sheet. Not sure on the spacing, but I think it is standard. Some of the track systems like Gladiator, etc use a different spacing and those accessories will not work.

I think it looks great. Way nicer than peg board, but it still won't hold alot of weight without tear out. There is industrial stuff with aluminum reinforced channel, but it is $$$$$$$.

Good luck!

I did most of 3 walls of my garage in maple covered slatwall and we're really happy with how it turned out. Rather than finish framing with wood, I held mine back from the ceiling and side walls about 1/2" (about the width of a slat gap).

My project link below shows some photos, but the focus was on my floor project. I could take more photos if you're interested.

I got mine used at a Container store for $15 a sheet. They had a temporary display, getting ready to dismantle, and were willing to deal. I spray painted to match garage walls. Screws of 3" in every stud, every other slat.

I had pegboard on 2 walls from previous owner. I ripped it out for the slatwall.

Just getting a good start putting tools up but I am begining to get better organized.

You will enjoy the slatwall.

In the realm of missed opportunities, when they remodelled a defunct retail space nearby they literally filled at least one huge roll-off dumpster with the high dollar aluminum channel slatwall. I mean a 10'x40' by 10'high solid full A lot of slatwall. My son and I were able to get several sheets which he used in his garage and it works well. We also got a lifetime supply of hooks and stuff which is best suited to retail stuff like clothes etc. but can be adapted easily. Shortly after the space was gutted, a new tennant moved in and redid the whole space with......you guessed it, slatwall. Go figure??! So keep an eye out for store remodels. Got a bunch of good stuff at an Old Navy that was upgrading. Lights, plywood, 2x4s, pegboard, and some nice benches and counters with 12 or 14 gauge steel tops. All free. Most of the work is done late at nite . C-shift. Box of donuts and some coffee can get you a lot.

I agree on the Craigslist tip. I found 13 brand new sheets left over from a NEW retail buildout for about $20 sheet. Retail is $55 for the maple I found. A couple weeks later I nabbed 3 big boxes of slatwall hooks from retailer that was remodeling and thought chrome was more fashionable than white.

There are several online retailers. Palay displays comes to mind.

Found a guy local on Craigslist who has some and will deliver (cuz its on his way home) for $20.00.

Thanks for the tip. I don't know why I thought of it earlier
