Thank you for your comments Well, done for a while but not through a season of use. It is a gas insert, so not as hot as a wood burner. The cement board was adhered to the drywall with mortar and the metal surround with high temp silicon, and then the tile set in a thick mortar bed. I'll try to remember to report next spring after a season of use.
