Kinda new here but thought I would post a fe pictures here.
This first set is of a welding cart/ table thatI built. I wanted something with shelves and space to hold some tools but with a top I could work off of. I started with this;

It was a cart for banding material. All I did was cut the front off and then space it out with some scrap square tubing I rounded up and a 1/4" piece of steel I paid way too much for to use as a top.

After that I used some 5/16" steel rods to frame up the box to fit my welder in and proceeded to finish it out so I could add a bottom shelf and a middle shelf.

I also put a small pipe vice on it and used some 12 gauge for the shelves.
The next thing I wanted to do was add a place for my porta band. All I did was saw a double wide slit in the top, clamp the stop to the table and drill a pilot hole through both followed by a larger hole for my 1/4 - 20tap. Then pulled the stop off and drilled the hole out a little larger and tapped the hole in the top. I followed that up with a couple of allen head bolts I had took off my Harley at one point or another with some nut on them to use as spacers. Bolted the stop to the underside of the top and cut the bolts off flush ( actually to begin with I used the nuts on top so after I cut the excess off I could chase the threads when I pulled the nuts off). Once that was done I just put the stop back on the porta band and bolted it to the table.

I have since added a small brace under the saw to give it more stability. I will get pictures of that later. I also need to find a good spot to add that small box on the bottom. Total cost was $50; about 10 for consumables and 40 for that darn piece of 1/4" plate.

I finished a few small projects today that I started over the weekend. The first is a small gear holder for my change gears on my lathe. I did all of it on the lathe except for the threads;

gears on it;

Screw top holding the gears on;

I know nothing special but hey it is my first piece that I made on my lathe.

Next I took the cheap ground off of my Harbor Freight blue mig and put a old battery cable in its place. The battery cable was a thicker gauge and about half as long. Not completely positive but it seems to weld a little better. The welds look better and I seems to be getting better penetration.
Old cable;

New cable;

I will get pictures of how I connected it to my table later. I just used a simple bolt and left part sticking up on top for when I need to connect a ground from it to something I work on off the table.

Last but not least my rust remover using a 1 gallon bowl, some banding, a metal plate, arm and hammer washing soda, and a laptop charger.

and another;

The next thing I have to finish is a pair of sheet-metal pliers I am making to bend light gauge.

Needed a pair of pliers to bend sheet metal so I made some this weekend. Please disregard the ugly welds and even uglier tool. It works thats all that counts (I keep telling myself that anyway)

I decided to weld some tie down anchors in the bed of my truck. The following are a few pictures in the process;
Metal prepped and ready to weld together

All of the pieces welded together. I put the anchors on small plates to try and spread the load out a little more.

Here is a close up of my welds. A little critique is appreciated;

Once they were all welded up I drilled some 1/2" holes to do a little plug welding also;

I will get some more pictures in the morning with them welded to the bed of my truck. It was dark out by the time I was finished.
