People send me **** to review all the time. At first thought, this might seem like a nice perk to the job... and it is, but honestly 90% of the stuff I'm sent to reviewhas ...

Nothing says professionalism like an opening line with "****" I understand it is a quasi formal review, but still I don't think you are doing yourself, this site or the product a favor.

Ryan: thanks for posting because it looks like the right tool for the job. at $17 each just curious if they are disposable when the blade gets dull or broken? maybe not great for a homeowner, but replacing those dangerous box cutters at a warehouse or store might be a great upgrade for them.

So are the ceramic blades any more fragile than the typical utility blades ?

Is this limited to being used on cardboard and other thinner materials?

You fellas might wanna find another site... Or just don't read my stuff... I'm not one to care much about professionalism. And, if you have virgin ears... well, stay away from me or you will almost certainly lose your innocence.

Sorry.

They don't seem to be. They are more brittle in that they don't bend... But I haven't been able to snap one off without trying. And when I tried it took a good bit of force.

As for what it can cut, I'd say anything your typical utility knife and then some? I've only used it for breaking down boxes and scoring sheetrock thus far...

Sheetrock was the magic word Ryan.

Regular blades just go to hell so quickly it seems and the handle design sure seems like it would make for a lot less fatigue.

Thanks for the info.

I didn't do a ton of sheet rock scoring, but what I did do didn't seem to dull the blade at all...

As for thumb fatigue, you still get it with this one.

Thanks for sharing the knife, looks like it would be comfortable to hold as well.

If you get free stuff that you don't need, why not send it out to Alliance members to test and review on the site?

How far does the blade extend? Could it be used against a straightedge for scoring drywall and such?

I'm all in because of the replaceable, long-lasting blade, as well as its easy-to-find-in-the-shop color.

Thanks a bunch for your review, Ryan!

We used to use Ceramic scissors at work to cut Kevlar and other ( hard to cut clean and straight) materials. They did dull after a while, but still pretty impressive. Those were not cheap though.

I'd be interested in writing in depth reviews for stuff like this. :)

Didn't hurt the site, the review or Ryan as far as I'm concerned. ****, (to use the parlance of our times), I even went over to Amazon to ponder the notion of putting one of these in my toolbox.

Ryan: happy to hear you like them, but i guess i was asking if others had bought any since i'm guessing your's was free.

i probably own 10 or so utility knives and i'll still probably order one because it does look like the correct tool for the job.

thanks for posting it

The real test of that product would be how it holds up for a Derrickman on a Drilling Rig who may open 20-80sx per 12 hour shift with one...

want to send it to me and I'll have it put thru hell and back and see if it holds up?

I agree with you there, utility knives don't last long when all the mud man wants to do is sell product and mix, mix, mix

The site is a success! Like Ryan said, if their ears hurt then don't read it. I'm a female and his use of "****" didn't offend me and didn't make me think less of him or the site. ****, I might buy one too!

$17.95 on Amazon (free shipping if you have Prime)
4-pack of replacement blades is $15.40

Blade is double-ended like a utility knife blade. Interesting that blade has rounded point.
Here's demo:

lol right on. people need to develop a thick skin again. too many people with bleeding ears these days.

stick with what works. and if talking to people like they are real people as well works, then go with it. nobody needs that HR **** on a tool site.

why is that a real test of a product that was literally designed to make currogated cardboard box opening safer? its not the same as a standard blade, and was designed for one purpose.

honestly its a good idea and design. perfect for retail stores to hand out to the kids who sign up to work there and have never handled a knife in their life.

Where do we draw the line? Everything seems acceptable these days. I for one think that the word "****" was used in poor judgement for the general public but it's not my forum and Ryan can do as he sees fit on his site.

While we're on the subject, I wish a moderator would remove the tag line "Europe is for gays" from the old world tool thread. Why is it still there? And before anyone asks, no, I'm not gay! :lol_hitti

The line is wavy, the good thing about the internet is, no one can force someone to read a thread in a forum. Online problems exists because people who cant take an opinion dont click the little x in the top right corner lol

I have to say, it is very refreshing to have hands-off very light moderation here on GJ, on some forums, the best contributors get banned because they are rather blunt speaking, sort of like most EVERYONE on here! - LOL
