sliding barn door - finally finished!

after stuggling with various construction techniques and finally the reality that I was going to have to "man up" and build this myself - constructed from 5 pieces of microlam, braced with steel and hung with HD roller bearing hangers. I used "pocket screw technology" and construction adhesive.

as far as "why", I really wanted to be able to move some pretty large "stuff" up into the loft without struggling too much. I have a 48" open now.

although originally intended to just store spare racing parts etc, the room has now become a rec room with ping pong table and a sectioned off storage area

all in, its a 16' wide x 50' x 8' high space

sorting out a split a/c heat unit now as the temp has gotten up to over 90 deg here in Northwestern NJ already

yes, wanted a nice easy walk up and down and had the space to do it. Railing and paint this week end weather permiting
