Yes, I think the Hitachi 12" scms will work very good for me. I did take the "Rigid" miter saw stand back today. I and my 4yr.old son then drove over to Menards and would you believe they had the PM7000 on sale for 169.00!
It is still in back of mums van, will get it out tomarrow. I sure like new toys! Still waiting for the special ordered Hitachi saw to show up at Home Cheapo. I will use a LED bulb in the PM7000's goose neck light fixture. I will post pics if asked.

Thanks, JASTECH

Update, Home Cheapo called to inform me the scms that I ordered was thhere and ready to pick-up. So I loaded my son in the van and headed into town for my Hitachi C12LSH!

Well I went to the Pro Desk and they paged the emp to come to desk, he did then walkied for my new miter saw to br brought out. Another emp comes out with a cart and a large box with the letters MAKITA on it! He said oops! that don't look like Hitachi!

So they called and I was there early this morning and so HD had to order directly from Hitachi and it will be there within 10 days!

I have a new port-a-way PM7000 stand in box waiting for this saw to do a full review.

Thanks, JASTECH

I'd take the Makita ... I've owned one for 10 years and is the best thing since sliced bread. I replaced all the interior molding inside my house with a Makita sliding compound mitre, Makita portable dual tank compressor and Senco air nailer...

with one hand tied behind my back.. Makita and Senco all the way!

Just to keep this thread going, I want to ask a couple more questions. These are all in the context of a non-professional.

  1. How important is a 12" blade over a 10" blade ?
  2. How important/useful is a slider option ? Would you rather have a 10" slider or a 12" non-slider ?
  3. Is there any saw out there under $250 that will give consistently accurate cuts ?

No.. don't waste your money on anything other than the Makita LS1216L.

I guarantee you'll buy another one down the road. A good L/R compound slider will ensure quick cuts without making mistakes and wasting material. It's a larger saw and can be difficult to move around the interior... once you get it setup and secure on a stand it's a breeze to install molding - as long as you have a Senco air nailer to go with it...

Update: They called me, the Hitachi has arrived!
My Dad and I went to get it, well then thay had trouble locating it, lol

It is in the Jeep as I type this. I will get it out tomarrow. I will be taking my 2007 Ram 2500HD 4x4 Big Horn addition to dealer to be sold Friday.

It's a 5 hour drive to the Spady dealership, but he says he can sell it fast.

Thanks, JASTECH
