Digression: a few years ago I decided to build myself a cart for my small 220V MIG welder. I thought about it and decided it was important to build in storage. I considered fabricating drawers and rejected the idea since I'm no tin knocker. Eventually I ran across a small drawer unit that came out of a work van. I built it into my little MIG cart and boy is it handy. The top drawer has one of those separator units in it and holds soapstones, tip reamer, tips, nozzles, small chisel (for removing spatter), steel tape and several other handy items. One of the larger lower drawers holds all my spare little reels of wire, each in a baggie with a desiccant pack. Other drawers hold a slag hammer and some other things I can't think of right now. It made my little MIG cart infinitely more useful.
But I had to pay $75 for that little drawer unit, plus drive about 30 miles each way to get it.
Yesterday I took a break from working in my shop in the smoke and walked down to the end of my cul-de-sac to get a few minutes of fresh air and sunshine. Uh-oh - someone's dumped another load of garbage down there, dang it. I got down there and found that someone had bought a work van and had patiently disassembled all the drawer units and shelves and even the roof rack and dumped it all at the end of my block as garbage! I came home with two stacks of drawer units and a shelf unit made by Adrian Steel for free, didn't even have to drive a whole block to get them.
Here they are on an old Boeing Surplus cart. Enjoy - metalmagpie
