Hey guys,

I'm new here and I am interested in getting a nice, transferable garage floor. I just moved into base housing (I'm Air Force) after living in my own house for 6 years. I made the mistake of applying a garage floor coating. The only reason I say it was a mistake was because I have figured out since then that I definitely want a completely transferable garage for future moves. Here are some pictures of my recent garage to give you an idea of what I had.

Now, with that said, I did all of this work all on my own and brainstorming it up on my own. I didnt use anything for references, so I'm hoping by using this site that I can kind of take a conglomerate of ideas from here and implement it into my new garage. I'm all about functionality. But, it all starts with the flooring.

Just for reference, I'm moving from a two car garage into a 1 car garage. But that's okay because my wife used the other side anyway. So, I ordered a sample of racedeck diamond and got it in the mail today. It seemed very hard to me. Is there any type of garage flooring that has a little more softer, anti-fatigue feeling to it, that still has the durability properties of racedeck tiles?:dunno:

That was a nice setup. You'll find lots of ideas here for the next one.

Racedeck makes anti-fatigue pieces that can go under the parts of the floor where you walk. They quiet the tiles down, too.

If you end up getting RaceDeck, I'm pretty sure there is a discount for members of this board.

Thanks. I would really like to go with racedeck because of their reputation on here, but that's another cost on top of paying for the tiles themselves. any idea how much these shock absorbers cost per sq ft?

Any other options you guys can think of?

I'd give racedeck.com a call and talk to them as they could probably answer any and all questions you have. From what I've read on this site there are a couple of guys that have moved there floors to another site with no major problems encountered. If I had any plans on moving I would go the same route. But seeing as I'm in this house for at least the next 10-15 years I'm putting down epoxy. Good luck whichever way you decide to go and from a Retired USN Vet Thank You For Your Service

Cuts around lolly columns or side cuts. Add a few tiles or subtract a few, depending on width/length differences.
I am assuming your next garage will not be identical to the first.

Ok. that's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. And my next garage will definitely be bigger. Only reason I have a 1 car garage now is because that's all they offer here at Barksdale with the so-called "historic" housing lol! my damn F350 doesnt even come close to fitting in it either(sticks out about 4 feet).

Used to stand Alert at Barksdale on occasion. They still have the Buffs down there. I here what your saying about base housing. Everyone I've ever lived in you couldn't fit anything bigger then a midsize car in the garage. Go with the Race Deck I don't think you'll be sorry. I'd still give them a shout at Racedeck.com and see if they can give you a better deal.

ok. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Right now it's between them and modutile. Whoever gives me the best deal. Both seem to be high quality products made in the US.

And yes, the buffs are still here. I always hear them sit on the damn tarmac all night just idling. I've gotten used to it by now though. Plus, knowing they are our main bomber that will keep "Peace the old fashion way" kinda overrides them being annoying.
