Slightly uneven floors - underlayment before installing tiles?

Hi all - first post here. We are planning to install tiles (racedeck?) in our 2 car garage. The slab is old and has some cracks/uneven surfaces. Nothing terrible but enough that it would make epoxy difficult..hence our decision with the tiles.

Would putting down underlayment help ensure the tiles stay even/locked? Just want to make sure we don't have any issues post-install given the shape of the floors.

thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forum.

How uneven is the floor? Can you post a few pictures? If it is only minor unevenness then perhaps putting down some landscape fabric before putting down the tiles will be the best solution.

The original two car that came with my house was pretty level, but with some wear & scaring. The single car & shop addition in the rebuild had level issues, rough concrete issues, scaring, & damage issues by the time I decided on tiles for my floors.

Racedeck will cover all the scaring, pitting, & minor leveling issues with no problem & no need for underlayment. At the shop garage door we had to dish the floor to make it work with the existing driveway. That created a shoulder on either side of the door. I used free flow tiles on the shoulders between the diamond plate tiles. The free flow tiles are flexible. They lock into the other tiles, but bend to shape to the shoulders. They've been there for over five years with no problems.
