Slippery epoxy floor

This past week I applied the SD epoxy + flakes to my garage and it looks fantastic! Now I’m concerned the floor will be too slippery. Right now I’m still letting it cure but I walked on it in socks and felt like I could slip on my **** at any time. Will this get duller as time goes on or should I go ahead and apply something on top of it to make it more grippy?

If you walk on just about any hard surface in socks it's going to feel slippery.

All coatings are more slippery when new. They haven't developed any of the microscopic scratches yet from normal traffic. If you want to make it a lot less slippery you will need to add a coat of clear with an anti-slip aggregate mixed in.

I have a hi gloss clear coat over my gloss epoxy and have never been at a loss for traction working out in the shop. The only time it gets a little slick is if there is standing water which is murder on epoxy floors and should be avoided. It's nice having dirt and debris glide out the door like greased lightning with the mere thought.

Had same concern so I used topcoat with anti slip granuals esp heavy near doors and where I will be working on cars. Snow in an unheated garage was what I was picturing. Not as catlike when I fall anymore

can you tell me why water is bad for epoxy floors?

I believe he was just saying water on the surface of an epoxy floor can be very slippery, not that it will hurt the epoxy.

thank you. I am going back and forth between tiles like racedeck and epoxy.

So I am trying to learn as much as I can about epoxy.

I used armorpoxy and did apply their military clear coat with anti-slip additive. It is fantastic, strong and the anti-slip is perfect - not abrasive but very effective at slip prevention.

Thanks, our standard Armorgrip non skid is the most popular size, and gives the floor a nice nonskid texture without it being gritty or making it hard to clean. We do offer about 10 different nonskids for most any application.
