So do all lifts compensate for slope in the garage floor? I'm looking at any 7000# lifts but my floor has drainage slope of a couple inches. It would be nice to have the ramps level when lifting .
I had a little over 2" on one side and less on the other. Here are the choices you have to make and figure out what the ideal direction is for you.
1 - Level runway while going up?
2 - Level runway while locked?
3 - Lock clicks synced up?
4 - Ramps off the ground?
5 - Cable slack?
6 - Enough cable adjustment to tackle these issues?
What I ended up doing is making sure the lift goes up level. Clicks all at once. Rests level. Has no slack. What that means is the back of my lift sits 2" off the ground and so do the ramps. Instead of shimming the posts, I put a 2x4 shim under the beam between the two runways to keep the cables from carrying the load while all the way down.
I then have some pieces of wood to help the car get onto the ramps. Any other solution would have been a headache. You could shim the posts directly but then you'd have to bolt everything down.
If you don't mind your runways going up even and the clicks syncing up and there isn't a horrible amount of slack then you could just let the back of the lift drop the 2" and be done with it.
Speaking from BendPak experience and nothing else.
I'm doing a 4 post, not sure which one yet. Looks like I will be shimmy g the front posts, but need to determine exactly how much and then call lift supllies to see what they say. First guess is a 2 inch slope.
Both the ladders and cables on on each leg of the BendPak 9k four post lifts are individually adjustable, can't say for sure with the 7s. Call their tech support to see how much latitude you will have between adjustments & shims.
