Slow look for a quality vise

Ha! You're nuts! Reed made some of, if not the strongest / most durable vises ever made. The Reed 1C weighs 54 lbs for a 3.5" vise, which is pretty damn heavy for it's size. However, I'm glad you wouldn't pay that much for it, leaves more for me!

I wouldn't say I'm nuts. I would however say I am very fortunate to live in an area where old iron like this Reed are pretty common at a lot of flea markets, yard sales and auctions for a lot less money. I just passed up on a 4" Parker in the same condition as the Reed because the guy was asking $80. If I needed #13 I would have nabbed it, but 12 is fine for me. Hell, I really on use my Parker #975 which is mounted on my welding table and the 6" Rock Island on the workbench.

Filson, you and me both. I'm looking specifically for a 4C and I'd definitely take a 3C at the right price. If I find a 4c it'll take my #1 spot and will have all new jaws and pipe jaws from Kevin.

As for you TDI, you did excellent and got an awesome price, I'd have paid the $200 for them myself but I'm not concerned with getting 'You ****' deals, I'm more concerned with getting quality. There's been a couple of times that I've offered someone more than they were asking just to hold onto it until I could get there. Anyhow, make sure to post these in the vise thread and I look forward to see them after the restoration.

Yup. Now that you've adopted your first, orphaned vises start coming to find you.

I think that reed is a nice deal at that price.
