Slowly assembling a workshop

I've browsed these forums for a while, but decided to finally make an account after picking up an old Craftsman 150 drill press. That's my current project. Tons of great info on tool restoration here! I'll post some progress photos soon.
I'm also looking to add better lighting in my garage eventually.

Whoever designed my garage should lose their license. I have a two-car garage and it has a single duplex receptacle on the back wall, and a single bulb socket above it...for the entire garage. Luckily they ran wiring from the switched light up to a box in the ceiling that I can use to expand the lighting. I bought 2-pack of LED work lights and hung them up over my workbench, and it's amazing. It should have been the first thing I did in the garage.

Your garage was undoubtedly built to a price point and the minimum allowable specification. Mine was too but I was able to get past that.

I designed my shop and don't have a license. My GC built the shop under permit, but electrical wasn't in his scope...

In the end, you have to customize your space regardless.

I was joking about the license thing. But it's harder to add more outlets now, since there's drywall over everything. If I decide to add in more outlets now, I'd probably just run conduit over the drywall. I'd still have to get a permit to do that. A powerstrip works fine for me now, though.
