Hi,

40+ years old cusineart mixer cord fell victim to a lapse of attention and the gas stove in the current cooking frenzy.

Jerry rigged it to keep everything on schedule but it needs to be replaced at one point.

Are these power cords more or less all the same or are they manufacture/model specific?

Thank you.

the strain relief will be the tough part to find , but with some ingenuity, you can rig up something else .
might even be able to drill out t he cord & reuse i t with some glue and/or another cable clamping system

I have managed to preserve those "molded in place" strain relief's with some effort:

Remove the cord from device.
Cut the wire off flush at both sides of the SR.
Cut the SR in half with a sharp blade and hollow out a channel where the new cord will fit.
Test fit the SR around the new cord until it fits nicely.
Hot glue or crazy glue the SR onto the cord and clamp it closed.
Make sure the SR is oriented the correct direction on the cord before glueing - don't ask me how I know to check this . . .
Wait for the glue to set.

Reinstall new cord on mixer.
Voila!

I do keep cords off old stuff too but I end up doing this operation a lot because everything seems to have a different molded SR design.

Cheers

I cut the cords off everything I scrap, so I always have a bucket of replacements, lol.

But yeah, as others have said, make sure the wire gauge is the same or larger.
me too. I also save all those power supply cords that come with everything. Cut off one end and used them many times to rewire something,

Also have used zip ties around the cord on both sides of the orifice/gromet as a strain relief as well.

By the way - we purchased newly made and improved clear plastic parts for our similar model machine. Well worth it if your plastics are cracking.
