Hey all!

I need a small, bench top type band saw, not for any heavy duty type stuff, but for just general purpose small stuff/projects and cutting aluminum (no wood).

Got any recommendations as to brand, model, and price?
In this "particular" case, I'm leaning towards the cheaper the better.

Thanks!
Dave

You said the cheaper the better so this may not be the one for you, but for a small bench top band saw, I doubt you can beat this one. Portable to whatever you are working on, with the benchtop table, you can leave it on your workbench and use it as a regular band saw.

On sale at Orchards (S.Calif chain) for a darn good price, wifey put one under the tree for me so I have no idea how good it really is but I think its going to be great. Most of the time it will just sit on my workbench with the cutting station table and yet I can take it to the car and trim metal. Only negative which slowed me down from buying one was the 2 1/2" cutting depth but when it comes to steel, I never cut thicker than that and I have a separate wood band saw.

Don't forget the pawn shops too. I picked up a Delta benchtop for 75 bucks also. Looked like it had been used twice. I also found a Dewalt planner for 125 at another pawn shop.

Great idea about the pawn shops!

Locally, we have a store called "Retool" that sells and trades both used and new tools and equipment. Anybody have a "Retool" store near them?
