Small but practical

Just finished building my garage last year and although it was a dream come true, I did have some limitations, mainly size. I could only build 27 square meters, but even so its a decent one car garage. I do a lot of work on my cars myself so I needed it to withstand some abuse, but I also wanted it to look nice. Maybe not as nice as some of the garages I have seen on here, but still...

I'm still in the process of finding interior storage solutions so hopefully I'll find some inspiration here

Looking good. Sometimes the smallest places are really cool, since you have to use creative ways to store everything yet still have room for the car and be useful to you. Looking forward to more updates.

From what you've shown it looks good to me. Ditto MajorLeeGassole. Sometimes smaller spaces result in great garages, so it seems.

I like your use of a ridge board instead of conventional rafters,it allows for a higher, unobstructed ceiling,looks great!

Looks like you have found solutions for some of your storage problems. It takes a lot of discipline to make a small garage work. And more space does not make up for a lack of discipline. It is just means more space for more mess.

Nice place. I agree with MLG, smaller makes every detail the most efficient it can be to take full advantage of the limited space.

I knew I would need the storage space and this way it was easier to get the roof profile to match our house.

I need to take a few updated pics, the only problem is that I have way to much stuff and it looks so messy already.
Currently looking for the best way to hang my tools and possibly add some lighting at floor level.

What kind of roof system is that?

Go up for storage. I'd build a large shelf at the back between the side shelving. Wall racks for long things.

Not sure what they call them in english but here we call them glued-beams. Dimensions take into account a set amount of snow at a given elevation and the smaller beams are regular 2x8".

I've made two attics either way, one above the garage door and the other above the work bench. They are accessible from the middle where I have some head room in case I need it. The top beam could probably hold a hoist if I wanted to lift an engine, but I'm not sure I'll try that

I'm sure you've seen Jack Olsen's garage (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55006). He has hinged tables with hinged legs that fold completely flat against the wall, and there's even room to mount things on the wall behind the tables. Less clutter and still have storage and added workspace.
