I have a few old toolboxes that I am looking to take out some dents on, some have little dents, other have acrease type of dent. I read up on this forum aobut the Dry Ice method as well as heat, but i wanted to know how to simply fill a small dent before you put down a primer coat, something simple that I could use to fill a light dent, first thing I tohught of was bondo, but surely there has to be something easier to use, or maybe not? Any help and sugesstions are appreciated.

Pictures might help, but if you are just looking to fill a small sent, a good quality body filler would be your best bet. A small dent on a flat surface should be a quick fix.

When it comes to "the" dent, there wasn't one in particular, just wanted to get some suggestions on a good product that even a beginner could use.

James, do you have any pictures? In much the same reasons that a body shop doesn't give estimates over the phone, actually seeing what you are working with may result in you getting better recommendations based on the actual defects. Do you have access from the back side of the dent?

google hammer on dolly

Next, hammer on-dolly is for stretching. A dent is already stretched, so the only thing hammer on-dolly will do is stretch some more. What used to be a dent will become a stretched out panel with waves that will be real fun to remove.

What tools do you have to work with, any body tools?

Then there is always the purchase of a $20 Ding-King!

Worked for me on a couple of smaller dents and was a lot cheaper than the local PDR guy..

Use Rage Gold by Evercoat, Bondo is for wheelbarrows.

Rage is great stuff.
The Rage gold is more expensive & you don't really need that for a tool box.
Generic "bondo" is ****, doesn't sand well, etc.
If you can get to the inside of the dent, hold something flat (a body dolly if you have one) on the outside & hammer it flat from the inside with a flat face hammer. Dont' use a nail hammer or ball pein. Use a flat one, or you will stretch the metal & end up with more problems.
