Well hello. Long time lurker, but I finally decided to post up what I've been up to with my garage. This is our first house and it's been a long process in the near 2 years we've lived here.
I tried to find pictures of the garage when we first moved in, but apparently I didn't take any because I hated it so much. The previous owners clearly did not use the garage for car storage as they had a GIANT shelving space built that was maybe 5-6 feet deep.
The first picture I can find is here -
This was as I started work on the bench/cabinet area. Running wiring for outlets, but switched and constant. Constant outlets just above bench surface, switched just below upper cabinets for under counter lighting that come on with garage light switch
This is a tool box I inherited from a friend, and wanted to build my bench around. I've never been a fan of stacked toolboxes as they limit work bench area.
Framing for bench in process. You can also see in this picture the new outlets, plus the TERRIBLY ran power wiring that goes out to our shed in the back. Previous homeowner decided not to run the wiring through the walls
This is how the bench top ended up. Had some extra flooring material and decided to make use of it.
Don't have any pictures of the finished product oddly. Oh well.
As of a few weeks ago picked up a snap-on box from a friend for a STEAL. $1000. Time to transfer and rebuild bench to accommodate.
Around this time also decided to add upper storage, organize extension cords, yard tools and gas cans/generator.
Spent about 4 hours tonight making the new box fit. Had to shift the lower bench to the right in order to make room for the larger box. Will likely bring the bench out another two inches and am considering making it in to an L shape to add more workspace and cover my small compressor as well as garbage can. Also built a shelf between the furnace and water heater for more storage while I was out there.
