I've been looking for a portable air tank to fill up tires on some of the dilapidated cars I pick up. Found these at a garage sale down the street.
They wanted $20 for the tank and $16 for the nut & bolt containers. I gave 'em $25 for everything. Brought it home and put the nut & bolt containers on CL for $20. Two hours later, they sold. So I guess I paid $5 for the air tank (which is what I really wanted)!
So, this morning I took the tank out to the backyard and blasted it. Cleaned all the fittings and painted the tank Rustoleum Gloss Cherry Red. Now I have the portable air tank I always wanted!
I thought this was neat...….
It has a 'destroy date' of Jan 2011 riveted on it. I don't think it's an issue. After blasting the tank and shining a light down inside, there's absolutely no corrosion inside or out.
