so a couple of weeks ago, I was in my grandfather's basement bringing up his air conditioners for him. Last year, he gave me all of his tools and 2 middle boxes. He knows out of all of his grandkids I'll et the most use and appreciation from them (as I routinely would borrow things as needed). he felt good to be able to give them to me, as did I for being able to get them. Neither him or my father were ever really big with using tools but I enjoy the connection of knowing some of my favorite tools were used by my dad before he passed and my grandpa. It's just a special connection to them that I surely don't need to explain to GJ members. So as I said, gramps was awesome and gave me his tools last year as he's up there in age and doesn't use them anymore. For a while, they were neglected, but never the less they survived and are proudly mine now. I treat them well and keep all my tools in as best shape as I can. While in his basement last month I came across this little green metal box. I opened it up and found a sk ¼in ratchet, 2in sk extension bar and an assortment of sockets all ¼in drive: two 9/32 6pt sk, two 5/16 6pt sk, ¼ 8pt sk, 11/32 12pt sk, ⅜ 12pt sk, 7/16 12pt sk, two⅜ 8pt sk, and a 9/32 craftsman socket

I cut small pieces of drawer liner and fit them into the case to stop it from being as noisy and clanky sounding. The ¼in ratchet's detent ball to hold on sockets has not working, the spring behind it was corroded depressed or broken. one call to sk and they promptly sent me a rebuild kit free of charge. i'm pleased i found this. I wish the socket set was more complete as it should've been but hey, it's still awesome to stumble upon.

it is full, but I don't think it's the original set of sockets with it. some I think are, but obviously the craftsman one was added in, and a few of the ski's are doubles so some seem to be missing.

I got a very similar set from my father. It had craftsman USA 6 point shallows in it and a bunch of taiwan in there also (it had 2 sets worth of sockets).

The decal in the top of the box looks like the Sherman Klove logo. Nice gift with the family connection.

Cool story. Love SK

My grandfather and great grandfather were carpenters. I use their hammers from time to time. Special feeling when I use them.

Looks like the same box and ratchet as the SK set that was stolen from me about 4 years back. Miss that set, take care of yours. It will treat you well.
