Hi all,

I’m a long time reader of this forum but this is my first post now.
I bought the house in October 2013 –(a few months after the hail storm) located in Gomaringen (a village near to Stuttgart) in Germany.
The PO decided to sell me the house because he was aware that he wasn’t able the rebuild the damages caused by the hail storm. I rented the garage from him years ago so I was the first choice of him to buy this wonderful place.
This garage will be a working space and no show room, so please don’t expect that it is as beautiful and clean as for the example the garage of Taurus or of many other amazing places of GJ members.
As I know all of you are interested in pics, here some pics from the beginning of the rebuilding. Pictures of how it looks now and also of inside of the Garage will follow.
Ok, some last words before the pics will come- The house isn’t completely renovated until now because for me that is not priority one. My priority is to have a functional working place.:D
My wife indded has an different oppinion to my understanding:lol_hitti but I think this is normal.
So, let’s start:

Regards Rainer

the last for now.

The last Picture and the next to last picture is the room under the Garage. I call it "Drecksraum" because this room hasn't hat concrete in it but soil.
This is also the reason why the stress analysts didn't allow me to put a two post lift into it without stabilizing the floor properly.

Welcome rainer124. Great photos and great progress on your house. I like the green truck with the yellow back. It looks like it will come in handy for your renovations.

Hi Rainer,

Nice project, but I have to ask what keeps rainwater from entering the room where you have firewood stored? It appears the ramp entry is sloped down toward the entrance of the room. Maybe it is just the camera angle or perhaps you have a drain somewhere that I did not see. In any case, you are making great progress.

@ ajohno,
thank you for the welcome. Yes, you are right. The UNIMOG is very helpfull in many different things to work at the house.

@gilr:
You have had a correct eye for the slope downwards to the house. As this chapter is not finished i need to do different things in the future- The dark grey door which is new needs to be reinstalled because the entrance high is too low. This was an error of the Company who assembled the door. Unfortunately they did so many things incorrect so the next time I do it on my own. Additional to that I have to pour a concrete wall to the heighbours place to stop erosion. Then there needs to be a drainage added (in Germany we call it Birkorinne). Until now there are two pumps at the inside of the room. The pumps will be needed in future also because it's not possible to excavate a drainage around the complete house because of the building from the neighbour. So these pumps will allow me to keep the penetration water from the outside under control. Until now this system works perfect, but we need to check it when we have extreme rain. This room was in the past always a little bit wet at the soil. Attached some photos of the current situation

@ theoldwizard1: I try to do my best. Unfortunately time is limited to work on my own house. Currently I help different buddies who helped me during the two year renovation phase. Currently one of my Buddy is building a small single car carage (Feriggarage-which means almost ready to be set) where I did the excavation work and the pouring of the footers.
Last summer I did the excavation and the pouring for footers at another Buddy for his 2 car car-port because he did all my electrical stuff at my house.

@ jps4jeep: Attached you will find some more photos from yesterday. So this is the current Status.

I know that i have to reorganise my garage , the working place and also the storage room. The Reorganisation is definetely planned for this summer and is always a running process anyway.

Now I hope you enjoy the current Pictures also from inside of the Garage.

Little update to the Garage:

We have had a Long Weekend in Germany :Dso I found the time to install an older ZIPPO two post lift. The lift was stored by me since some years but I never had enough room to build up. As this was always a dream of me to have a two post lift I just started right now.
There were different Problems to solve::willy_nil First of all there was the issue with the cave under the Garage. The Garage was originally intendet for a truck with a weight of 9 tons or a single wheel weight at the rear axle for 3 tons. So the lift indicates approx 2.5 tons per square meter and because of that I decided it has to be good because the columns are very close to the walls.
The other Problem was to haul the lift to the Garage as an complete construct and not in single pieces.
To install the lift I had to remove the shear lift which will change the location to the left Garage as soon as the tractor motor maintenace has finished.
Additional to that I had to move the door (Seuster fast lifting door) for some cm, relocate some electrical stuff and break the wall for some cm to get more clearance between the lift to wall and door.
It seems to work fine now and that the space to walk is now enough even if it's not giant.
First Lifting tests with the OPEL Frontera were successfull:rocker:

As soon as I verified that it's ok to work with the lift especially the problem to have enough space to walk, maybe I replace this old two post lift with a new Ravaglioli two post lift which is also stored in my barn since 2014. The other thought was to assemble the new to post lift to the left Garage where the tractor is currently located. So we will see what will happen in the future....

Rainer

I was pretty busy the previous months so here is the reason why.
We poured two walls in the garden and finished the paving.
Additional to that I was helping my buddy to prepare his parking lot which included digging, do the graveling and also the paving of approx. 130m².

But here you will find the photos of the current situation at my house.

Great place! And great work!!

I've never see a UNIMOG. Can't figure out if it's a tractor with a cab or a truck with hitch and loader. Super cool, don't know why we don't have them here.

Looks like your neighbors are good. They let you work on their side of the line to get your retaining wall poured. Nice you have drive access to the back. Do all the houses have that?

I would not call it a "Small Hobby Garage"!
