Small Natural Gas Heater Recommendation

My daughter’s house has an attached 475 sq. ft. double-car garage, 10 ft. ceilings and minimal insulation. She wants to keep the garage “warm” during the Ohio winter … we are talking about 50 F just to keep her art supplies from freezing.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a vented natural gas wall or ceiling mount heater with a remote programmable thermostat capability that would meet her needs? I suspect something in the 10,000 to 15, 000 btu range should be satisfactory.

The best, and most expensive are the Rinnai Energysaver. The vent requires a 2 3/4” hole and is included as is the programmable stat. For maintenance temps there is a setting other than the standard stat operation (55-80+*). That low temp setting will allow settings from 38-54*. The EX-11 will modulate from 5500-11000 btu. Fan modulates as well. The next would be the EX17 which will modulate from 8200-16,700btu. Other than the gas line everything is in the box. There are options for venting if necessary. They are quiet and cool to the touch. I have had these in my homes, shop, garages & basements since ‘91. Wouldn’t be without them

Minimal insulation and heat even 50* is NOT a good combo.
High operation cost and ice dams could be a real concern.

If you insulate well it may not freeze in there even without heat.

But please don't continuously heat any uninsulated space.

My well insulated, unheated, attached garage at my house stays in the mid 40's all winter in Northern Indiana.
