Small nested Screwdriver

I have this nested screwdriver that belonged to my dad. The barrel is brass and there no identifying marks anywhere on the tool. Possibly a custom made piece? My dad was famous for picking up tools from pawn shops in downtown LA. Don't know if this is one of them or not.
Anybody seen one like this before? Thanks.

There were most likely some sold commercially, but I believe a lot of those kinds of screwdrivers were built as shop projects back in the day - it was a good way to teach skills on a metal lathe. I remember my dad had a very similar nested screwdriver around the house when I was a kid.

I've seen a gazillion of those. That originally nested into one larger screwdriver that turned into a hammer handle.

That was a piece which I had from the 1960's from a hardware store. Have not seen them in at least 10 years. Great tool, had a few, but smallest blade always broke a corner off.

Factory made. I have several. And also the hammer version. Restoration Hardware carried the hammer/screwdriver in the 1990s. They made great stocking stuffers.

Equivalent hammer. Found it at the ReStore. Bought it. My wife claimed it.

They came as nested screwdrivers and as nested screwdrivers that went into a hammer.
They were usually 4 and 5 pieces.

When they were branded, they said Gam Mfg.

Many thanks guys for all of your info. Funny thing I also have a hammer similar to the one mcmlvif100 posted a pic of. Tried to unscrew the handle to see if it was of the same ilk. Wouldn't budge. Might just be a hammer or might need more force:dunno:. Don't want to over do it and damage the thing. Thanks again.
