Local pawn shops here look up highest retail price they can find and mark it at that plus some. Then refuse to negotiate.

Good score.

Agree 10000%. I "tried" to explain this to a pawn shop owner one time when he showed me (on probably a pawned smart phone) a few morons on ebay trying to sell 3"-4" Wilton Bullet Vises for a $750 Buy-It-Now. I was truly frustrated at first thinking to myself, "this guy has to realize what I'm referring to being an owner:mad:", but then I realized that he owned a Pawn Shop. Needless to say I've never been back.

Good score on the tools!! I'd put that place on my radar every couple of weeks or so.

Great deal on the tools

As for ridiculous prices in pawnshops, gotta remember that many of their sales are to the same people who pawn stuff there. They are not the most financially savvy people in the world. I cringe when I'm in a pawnshop and see some mom pawning her kids video game system for a few bucks and promising the kid that when she reclaims the system she'll buy the child some new video games from the pawn shop's overpriced inventory.

Only thing worse is someone pawning something they're still paying the rent to own place for.

Buy low, sell high. Pawn for little, Pay a lot

As far as Pawnshops go. I have to think of it like this. It is THEIR store they own the product and set the price. I do not have to buy anything. I was in a local pawnshop in the spring and the store had a ms460 stihl saw to sell. When these were current models they sold from 900 to 1000 bucks. This saw was well used etc. I offered the owner 450. He had 750 on the saw. He refused. The next guy who walked in payed full price for the saw. As I was standing their. At that point I seen why he didnt sell to me. I see alot of things in pawnshops I feel are overpriced. But the next time I go in the store the items are gone. Somebody bought them.

There a two pawn shops here that charge 90% of new, sometimes up to three times new. I avoid them. There are two pawn shops that are pretty darn cheap. My favorite one is the one where I bring up a huge lot of wrenches, sockets, ect. He will ask how much I am thinking, usually he lets me name my price. Nice score BTW! :)
