Not a smoking hot deal, but worth saving a few dollars for those watching them. I was looking to grab these when summer started. The reviews on HD's site and from independent reviewers are great.

Those of you familiar with what HD's price codes mean, can you confirm that this is just a new low price and not an doomed item? If it is, I'll be rushing to buy them!

Noticed this in my local store too.

I *think* is just a new low, compared to all the clearance prices we've been seeing (ending in .03, .02, etc)

Most of the store around here didn't ever have very many of these, so hopefully that isn't an indication of something.

I'm torn between these and the lboxxes, but it's so nice to be able to grab these off the shelf when I can find them locally

I must admit, I don't "get" these. Your tools are in the bottom, and little parts on top. Are you more likely to need tools, or little parts more often? For me, I'd always be in the bottom part, and occasionally in the top. Seems like a lot of extra work and frustration.

It's the same thing with the Systainers for me. Why do I want to have to move a bunch of my other power tools to get to the ones at the bottom?

What am I missing????

It's a 3-piece portable tool storage set. You arrive at your destination, pull them apart, and get what you need. How much extra work can there be?

I bought just the 22" model for a tool box in the Jeep and it is the perfect size. I spent quite a while comparing these to the Dewalt box in store and decided for my use, the price difference between the two was the deciding factor.

This. For months after release my store just had empty shelves. I don't know if its HD's stupidity or supply/manufacturing problems, but you can't expect things to sell that aren't there. I also suspect they'll eventually discontinue them, citing poor sales LOL

I really like ours, the quality is great. They're just nice, weatherproof tool boxes that lock together and roll rather than hefting a large box in each arm. Roll into a house, apartment, elevator, whatever. If that concept is confusing to a consumer, then it may not be a product that will benefit said consumer.

You grab the boxes you need before you head out to work, and you get all the blades/bits/accessories and attachments for that tool to go with it. No more chasing around loose blades, bits, etc.

You can also open mid-stack on the T-Loc systainers provided you're not opening the very bottom one. Even then, stacking/unstacking is preferred to unpacking my whole Milwaukee toolbox to get to the tool on the bottom, which is what I did before.

I dont actually use my tools professionally....so Im looking for something just to keep them organized, stored, preferrably not dusty while sitting in my workshop

Ive had the contractor bags from cordless sets but that just gets messy, especially if you have more than a few tools for the set.

I bought the smallest Ridgid box to hold my M12 stuff and it does an OK job. Gets heavy pretty quick, with 2 drills, impact driver, charger and battery packs. Unfortunately Ridgid isnt like Bosch or DeWalt with an in-between size....just that small one then you jump up to the larger size (not the rolling one).

And Im not sure just one of the larger size would hold my M18 stuff very well either.

The Milwaukee job box looks like an interesting possibility, but I like the build quality of the Ridgid much better (granted, they are more expensive)

I've been picking these up for $10 to $20 apiece at a local outlet store.

The actual Ridgid boxes? Interesting.

Shipping cost would **** to my area (CT) but you might be able to resell them to local people.

Yes, the Ridgid boxes. As of now I have found around a half dozen small ones and one bottom cart. These will all be used in my personal collection.

Any opinions between these and DeWalt's TSTAK system? Are these Ridgid boxes more comparable to the Tough System? Rockler has the TSTAK stuff for bit less for a similar setup.

Stu's done some good reviews on each. This is the Ridgid write-up but the clickable text in the first few sentences can direct you to his DeWalt review as well:

While I haven't used either (this will be my first modular setup) and after about a half hour of playing with them in the store, for me the Ridgid was a better functional and financial deal than the DeWalt boxes.

The big things that stuck out (besides price), were the all metal latches, better stacking latches and the fact that I didn't need a separate hand truck to move all of them because the handle is integrated.

If someone wanted to move boxes that didn't include the bottom, then maybe the DeWalt is better for them, but I would be moving the bottom (my M12 tools) and mid size (regular hand tools) boxes all the time, only changing the top organizer box (type of fasteners, etc) for a specific job.

The first link, the bottom box with the wheels is $58 in New York,
seems high to me. the second one was $38. by the time you buy one for each type of tool system, you'll be well over $100.
How much were they in the OP's area. We usually don't get the price reductions here.
I can see the use for remodeling work. just take what you need to the job.
