What small tool pouch for basic tools do you like? Or do most carry something bigger? Was thinking along the lines of ... ratcheting screwdriver, pliers wrench, cobras, mini pry bar, blade, ect.. Basic tools that would allow me to do a number of common fixes.

I find myself in situations like moving for example where I need a few things, but obviously don't want to carry a big tool belt.

When tool things go on sale, or I find them cheap I buy them. I have half a dozen Home Depot plastic tool boxes and maybe half a dozen various sizes of canvas toolbags. My "goal" is to kit them up, Household, Electrical, Plumbing, Electronics, and so far I have rigging (ratchet straps, chains, nut/bolt/washers for chains, gloves), and misc.

Most of the time I want a fairly specific set of tools, so I grab an empty about the right size box/bag/bucket and put stuff in it to do the job.

I've been using two of these bags for many years with no problems.

http://www.heltontool.com/Makita_Contractor_Compact_Tool_Bag_Organizer_p/mak-organizer.htm

They were promo bags that came with Makita 14v drill-drivers that the company bought in bulk for shop floor employees to use, so the bags were going in the trash and took a few home.

Just make sure any bag you buy is of a high quality nylon or canvas with double layer material on the bottom and lower sides as well as heavy duty handles and straps.

Tools can be sharp and have edges and it's easy to slice a hole in the side of the bag and slowly disperse your tools to the rest of the world unknowingly. BTDT.

Around the house, the 5 gallon bucket tool holders with the multi-pocket compartments work awesomely athough they are far less portable/compact than soft-sided bags.

It really depends on what all you tend to use, but I've been partial to this:

Greenlee Heavy Duty Leather Pouch

It's good quality, unobtrusive, and holds just a few basics that I frequently use. It's also carried at Lowes, for less than $20.
