I stumbled across this image on etsy, there was no description attached.

Can someone please tell me what purpose the small tube attached just behind the clothes dryer to the dryer vent serves?

I have never seen or heard of this before. Thanks.

I'm guessing that they have a pressure gauge hooked up to let them know if the exit pressure builds up, showing a plugged vent.

Maybe it is used to inject an occasional burst of nitrous to blow the lint out of the dryer vent ducting? ;)

It is probably hooked up to a booster fan. It senses when the dryer is on and turns a booster fan on. Booster fans may be necessary when the vent length is "excessive".

Guess not; but I do have a similar sensor that is used for a booster fan.
