You are too danged organized, takes the fun out of looking for things! Love that Craftsman rocking chair, but they must be discontinued, I ask for one at Sears and they looked at me like I was crazy! I told them Herb Spencer has one and I want one just like it. They said they would order one and call me when it gets in, can't wait!

It is always a pleasure to have you visit my place!

The overall garage is 20X30 ft. It is divided into the front garage part which is 20X20 ft and the back shop and office is 10X20 ft. I am able to work it very comfortably with the way I have it set up. Yes, I wish it was bigger, but I am pleased with the way it is.

Herb, the new arrangement looks great. Isn't it amazing how much more space you can find in there even after it's been service? By the way, I'll be copying the hardwood flooring table tops. I've got some left over from a project inside the house. Did you put it down with a regular flooring nailer or glue or something else? I would guess in that small width no provision needs to be made for expansion. Oh and that new Proto box, what deal, you hit it one out of the park there!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I get the Oak flooring free from my son in law. They are cut off's from his
jobs, and he uses good materials. I normally use some of his filler to "float" the tops level, let it dry, and nail down the Oak using a flooring nailer. In some cases I have used staples. I have really liked topping with this material. It finishes well. Afterwards, I make a 2 or 2-1/2 inch molded band to go around the bench.

One would sing the above song as one mopped the barracks. Old habits die hard.
So therefore to "swamp out" is my way of saying Mopped the Floor.

Glad you liked the rocking chair. I spent a lot of time using it. Much Killian's Irish Red is consumed therein.

I wonder if there are any wood floor barracks anymore. My 2027 Platoon in Paris Island back in 69 was in the last of the wood barracks . I'm bettin they are all concrete and brick now.

Yep about 30 years worth for me. USMC! Wow I am impressed. Some of my family members went that route, but I wound up Army. We used to say it was a hell of a job but it beat working for a living! LOL.

Most Army barracks were wooden until around the mid 70s. There are still a few here and there. I am sure you called the "center of the barracks" the "Deck". Or the "No man's land". We just called it the center aisle, but God help anyone who walked on it other than the DI.

Someone asked how my new arrangement works with my Subaru Tribeca. It fits pretty well but is tight nonetheless. I like the way it works. I can polish the car inside the garage ok.

Thanks for visiting. Our Subaru is a 2013 Model and we love it. We had prior Subaru wagons in the past. I can't see why Subaru discontinued the Tribeca as it is an excellent SUV. If I were younger I would buy a WRX six speed.
For my next truck I am considering a Nissan Frontier.

Tecton air hose reel mounted to workbench. I can use it with either of my compressors and keep them portable. It was expensive but works great. I had this in mind when I built the bench.

The Tecton reel comes in several configurations. I chose the heavy duty one that uses 3/8" X 50 Ft of Goodyear oil resistant hose. I can reach anywhere in my shop and a ways outside if need be.

Nice location for the hose reel. I had originally mounted mine to the ceiling but now have it moved to a mid wall location about chest height. It makes it so much easier to reach to my work bench, across the garage or outside like you said. Looks good!

I worked over a lawn mower today using my air ratchet. With the air supply right at the bench it worked great for changing from the ratchet to an air blower. I tried both compressors, my little Bostitch Trim Air, and my larger Craftsman. Both worked great with the air hose reel.

I can recommend the Tecton Air Reel @ $114.00 on Amazon.

Got a new Dewalt compressor to replace the Bostitch Trim Air. The Bostitch will move to my Shed woodshop. The Dewalt is heavier with a bigger tank and runs two outlet hoses. The bigger Dewalt is quiet and still portable. Air needs now under control.

The new Dewalt is pretty quiet as far as air compressors go. It was designed to use indoors, and therefore it is shielded with noise suppressors. I like the larger tank and the dual outlets. The only problem (a minor one) is that it
likes to vibrate on the wooden shelf I wanted to have it on. It is solid on the concrete garage floor though. It has nice rubber feet and does not move on the floor.
I will have to reinvent my stand where I want to have it, so it can rest on the floor. Not a big thing, but it is ONE more thing, isn't it? LOL. However, when all is said and done it will work out exactly like Herb Spencer wants it, so no big deal!

Looks great Herb. I have been thinking of getting the bigger stand up Dewalt compressor that puts out 200 psi. I really like the look of it and it has great reviews. I am really a fan of anything Dewalt. Definitely quality heavy duty tools.

Thanks that is a good idea. I have some indoor/outdoor carpet on hand and I will see if that holds the feet of the compressor from moving around!!
