New Toy. Dixon Zero Turn 42 inch, 21.5 twin cyl Kawasaki. This will live in my lawn shed once I rearrange things. I still have my 2003 Cub Cadet as a back up. I had a bigger version of the Dixon when I did property management.

Back at it again. Built a
stand for my belt disc sander. It nestles under a wing of
of the tablesaw. Finished installing new Dewalt compressor. Charging little power jumper after starting neighbors lawn mower (again!).

These mini jump boxes are fantastic. I have a Rockford. Besides having cord adapters to plug into almost anything, the ability to start a car is pretty awesome. Charges my phone in about 15 minutes.

Nice mower, Herb. How much lawn do you have? Being in AZ, I can control how often I mow simply by changing how much and when I water. I have 7,500 sq. ft. Mowing it is my mindless distraction from the worries of my world.

Hi Ric

I agree on the usefulness of the mini jumpers. I have used mine a lot this spring. I was amazed at it quickly starting a Ford F250 with a dead battery.
Also, I was able to help an elderly couple at the post office the other day with another dead battery. They were skeptical when I pulled it out, but so happy to hear their Chevrolet start up when I hooked it up. These are super, and I am glad to have on in both my car and truck.

Thanks for visiting as always!!

Best Regards
Herb

Hi again Ric

Thanks for the comment on the Dixon mower. Our homes have 1.5 acre lots. I mow mine plus the neighbor's (an elderly couple in their 80's). I also mow a good sized strip behind our places where there is a 20 acre pasture. I mow about a 10 foot strip between our fences and the hay pasture to keep down various critters from wanting to enter the yards. Lately, we have had more rain than I ever have seen here. The pasture cannot be cut for haying due to this daily rain. Looking like things will dry up though next week.
When I was doing property management, I had a 50 inch Dixon with a 25 HP Kohler engine. That machine would cut grass up to knee high without even
a cough.
I also have a 2003 Cub Cadet with a 15 HP Kawasaki engine that I really like a lot.
I also love to mow, and it makes me relax a little when I do it later in the evening.

Hope all is well and thanks for visiting!!

Best Regards
Herb

You, and my sister in Austin, TX, could both send us some rain. While we are way ahead for the year, we are in the middle of a 10 year drought and have only had 1/2" in the last 4 months. I can send towels if you need help drying out(haha);)

Hi Herb
Thought I had better check in its been a while since I spent much time in front of my computer.

I have spent this evening catching up on your thread all the way back on page 47 when I last posted
Things have been moving right along there (as expected) From your reorg of the shop to the wood shed, A new car and mower and tools.

I took a road trip last week and experienced some of that rain you mentioned
all the fields in Texas, Oklahoma Tennessee and kentucky were soaked as we drove the back roads looking for treasures.

It's nice to be caught up on thing around your place Herb
Thanks for sharing

Hey Ric

Yeah send us a water tanker and we can sure fill it for you! Actually, a turn around has put us back to normal here, and drying is on the horizon. Soon we will begin to enjoy or usual 100F and 150 per cent humidity like normal Arkansas summers.

Hi DON

Very pleased to hear from you and I need to get on your thread and get caught up as well with your doings. You better be careful messing around in Oklahoma, as one of those TwisterNados will scoop you up and carry you off!! LOL. Those turkeys are wicked!!

I will be along soon to check your place out.

My weeks project is to redo my Sewage Lift Station. It is 25 years old. I built the little wellhouse over it when we put it in. I will install a new sewage pump and float. The sewage leaves the house in a standard 4in pvc pipe, is liquefied and goes to the city sewer in a 2in pipe, buried 6 ft deep.
As we all know "IT" don't run UP hill!
A fun weeks job or what!?!?

Best Regards
Herb

A few more pics. Sorrowfully, the rains have pelted the wife's roses. She did not even want me showing them.

Herb,

Thank you for sharing the pictures of your garden, it looks stunning to say the least.

We are pretty fond of our roses as well and there is nothing nicer than a roses first flush of blooms of the year.

I will be looking at pruning mine in the next week or so.

Regards

Thanks 1/2 Cup

We did lose quite a few plants to the 20 plus inches of rain in May, but I have nothing to complain about when I think of the folks who have been totally wiped out by flooding, and even lost their lives. We live about 60 miles north of the Arkansas river, which has flooded out farmers and cost people all they had. So, I am really blessed, and appreciative of where I live.

Best Regards
Herb

Wife has been busy in the garage craft shop. We have some chickens now but no eggs yet! I am trying to decide where to hang my new Subaru clock. I think the wife has claimed this as "her" shop. Many projects are spinning around in there. I hung some new RED mini blinds to impress my buddy Gerard from "The 5 Stitches Garage.

Best Regards
Herb

Now I've heard of getting **** end of the stick or having a ****** job but that one does take the cake. I sure don't want to tackle that. LOL

You and your wife have a beautiful yard and it's well manicured. It looks like you guys spend a ton of time maintaining it. That is one hell of a nice back deck and blend seamlessly into the backyard. You guys must get hours of enjoyment using it.

Herb, I thought we had this discussion about the wife taking over your shop? lol that is way too many hens in the man cave. As always, your shop looks amazing as always. Now with the clock you can tell when it's beer 30. I'm jealous of the blinds. I would definitely copy that if only I had a window in my garage. LOL

You have a beautiful well maintained home. I liked the stylish design of sewers. In Russia it looks like a well for drinking water. Watch the Subaru is great, I am sure you will find them a worthy place .

Actually the job on lift station is not as bad as it sounds.
The system can be flushed out with clean water prior to pulling the pump. It is when the pump stops working that you have a mess. My pump is 25 years old so to avoid a big situation at midnight in dead of winter as on a weekend, I am going all new. A new pump is north of about $500.00 but they last a long time.

Thanks for your nice comments on our humble home!

Best Regards
Herb

I usually report here for work around 0800. After doses of coffee and at about 1030 or 1100 I have my days plans worked out mentally.
About 1130 wife calls me in for brunch. After that around 1300, I look at snail mail and email and check Garage Journal.
To relax from the stress of all that administrative work I try and beat a level of Halo 4 on Xbox360.
After that about 1500 hours we go to local walking trail, and then stop by coffee shop with friends. By 1700 hours I get tools and materials together for days work while wife makes dinner, and we watch Wheel of Fortune and the news. I like to sit on the deck with wife around 1900 to 2100 and have a couple of Killians.

This so you can understand how I get so much done each day. It is simple Productivity my friend.

Best Regards
Herb

Herb,

This could easily be my story (in weekends) except for the xbox360 and the wheel of fortune part.
Made me laugh out loud.
BTW love the deck and your yard, great place. And nice to meet you in person ;)

yeh your place looks like you sit on the deck 6 hrs a day drinking coffee and Killians LOL
I agree on the pump full replacement as a disabled hvac sometimes plumber (even have a license) LOL. Nothing worse than working on one replacing the pump then 29 days later the homeowner who did not want to spend the extra $35. for a check valve calls and the valve is now stuck closed and the pump you sold them is no good. No one wants to climb back into #$IT creek when the pit is full...
Only good thing about plumbing in the Midwest is the 3 rules of all plumbing and life in general
1. Payday is Friday every Friday, not that it mattered most wifes went and got the check so the hubby didn't spend it that night
2. %$IT flows downhill never volunteer to be the trench man!
3. DO NOT chew your fingernails..... will let you all figure that on your own

Place looks great!!

Thanks for stopping by. I like the plumbers theory. A man really needs a good plumber, a doctor and a dentist. Just hope their not all the same guy.

Hey Herb, The home and property look terrific! Isn't this a beautiful time of year when it all seems to come together? I like the sound of that schedule, but afraid I don't believe it either. A place like yours takes lots of hours. Enjoy it my friend.

Got out of shop and took wife and grandkids hiking up on Mount Nebo. This is one of the most beautiful spots in the area. On weekends you can watch hang gliders up here. I would like to have the courage to hang glide and am thankful I don't! Any day with the grand kids is a great day!

Best Regards
