Just got done going through your garage thread. Geez you are some kind of organized. Makes my garage look like a hurricane went through. Love all the details. And the ideas I am "borrowing".

Thanks for the visit. I have already sneaked out a couple times this month for a little fly fishing nearby. Been a little cold, but that makes it better when your frying the fish!!

Thanks again!

Thanks for passin' by! I do have it pretty easy to fish around here with two nice lakes. One is just out of town, about two miles, and the other one is less than six miles. Both are well stocked by the State with some pretty nice Largemouth Bass, etc. Also, I am about 20 miles from a good Trout stream, and I do that once and a while as well. That Fly Fishin' gets addictive!!

Just for giggles, these photos were of my shop area in June 1985.

The photos are poor, and there were no computers or digital anything then and I had most of my workshop in the back of the garage, as at that time I kept the truck I had inside. I don't even know if they are going to upload, but I am giving it a try anyway.

This was 31 years ago, and I ran across these in an old photo album we had stuck away. A LOT has changed since then.

Anyway, here they are.

Best Regards
Herb

Herb, your shop wasn't too bad back in 1985 and many of us would be pretty envious of a set up as you did have. Looking at your shop now it has been an amazing transformation.

Thank you for sharing.

...At 71 years old I can bruise or cut pretty easily now of days, and I need a quick bandaid on hand.

...

I'm "only" 57 Herb, but I often get bruises that I have no recollection of what caused them and it's a similar story with bleeding - I'll be just working on something and feel a "stickyness" between my fingers and realize that blood is running down my arm. :dunno:

... That Fly Fishin' gets addictive!!

...

I'm not a fisherman (I seldom even eat fish), but I can definitely see the appeal of fly fishing - I used to watch a brilliant (Aussie) TV series called "A River Somewhere".

Thanks 1/2

I had a few woodworking tools back then and some how I got by without all the "stuff" I have today. We would use what we had, right?

Thanks again

Nice transformation of your shop.
Looks like you had a pretty good start way back then.
I don't remember seeing your old band saw in you current shop pictures.
You do know that I look to you for ideas on setting up my wood shop.
It is coming along slowly. I have gathered up quite a few tools and things but haven't found the time to set up shop yet.

Thanks for sharing

Getting ready for a fishing trip out in the bojacks. I made up this kit to carry in the truck.
Not shown is one pair coveralls, a rain suit, and a 2"x6"x2ft to support the bottle jack. In the cab will be a .45ACP and a short barrel 20 gauge shotgun.

It is a little rough in and out to this stream. But I hear it is well worth the hour drive to get in to it. Not sure about cellphone coverage.

What have I missed?

Best Regards
Herb

Herb, good luck and have fun. What is this "cellphone coverage" thing of which you speak. I told my wife ours only extends to the end of the driveway (almost true).

Think you need to upgrade to 12 gauge. LOL

Missing a something to make fire, and pan to cook the fish. LOL

The .45 ACP wil serve well as protection but, fly fishing with a 20 gauge, now why didn't I think of that??

Looks like you got other tools covered except I didn't see the roll of duct tape. Never leave home without it!

Thanks for your comments and good wishes!! I think I have everything in order for the trip. It won't be a long one, just a couple of days. I will come back on with an "After Action Report" (AAR) when the mission is complete!!

ps: Beer is first load priority, and I got a roll of "Dut tape, and Balin' War"

Thanks and Best Regards
Herb

Herb in post #1460 4th image what do you use that old oil can spout for?

dsgreen3

You have a very detailed eye. That is just a carry over from when oil actually was in cans. (I am an old guy). I just never put it out of my kit.

Thanks for your comments and visit!!

Herb,
Looks like you were well prepared for your fishing trip.
How did it go?

Jon

That fishing trip was a pretty good one, although a short one. We were able to keep about 4 nice trout and cooked them on the site. This was a "rough country trip". Normally we use one of the trout rivers here and they all have nice accomodations like cabins or resorts. I had heard a lot of the place we roughed it to go to, and the stories of hot fishing for trout were true.
We are going soon to our favourite cabin on the Little Red and stay a week.
Thanks for stopping by and the comments!

Best Regards
Herb

Great to see you back Herb.

1/2 Cup

Thanks for your welcome back, it means a lot to me. I am glad to be back home for a while prior to our next fishing trip down south. We do like our travels and we try and take advantage of the time we have to do it.

Thanks again and Best Regards
