HS: thank you very much for taking the time to take out all the stuff and tools out of your new tote for me (us) to check out what you think it needed for a good handy guy's work around the house.

great that you added the SAFETY GLASSES and might i mention that having your EAR PROTECTION on your tote too might be something that would remind you to use them. i've got a few pairs sitting on machines and i still forget to use them and as the years go buy my hearing is getting worse.

nice looking shop and tools.

Your very welcome and I hope it showed you what you wanted. I am hoping others will post their totes here, showing their favorite tools and bags. There may be a thread on this somewhere on the journal, or possibly I could host others posting their bags and contents here, or a new thread could be started.
I am sure all of us could benefit from seeing what others have done to keep their "favorite and most used tools" right at hand.

ps: Hearing protection as you mention is VITAL, and I am the guilty dog who has lost most of his hearing over the years. 30 years in the Field Artillery did not help this matter either.

have you tried a TEABERRY? OMG it's a cross between a blackberry and raspberry and it's AWESOME. we are planning on buying some starts to plant next year for our garden.

Herb, I thought of you this morning when I went out to my shop. It was still dark but pretty light because of the moon. I decided to shine my flashlight into the yard and had two eyes looking back at me. I went over to investigate thinking it was another armadillo but nope, it was a raccoon. He climbed the tree closest to The Warthog Hidey Hole and just looked at me thinking he'd won. I let him be as he isn't hurting me at this time, but if that changes I'll have to take similar measures.

Yep, the eyes are pretty devilish, especially at 2:00 am!!
A mother Raccoon, protecting her Kits, who is able to rip the aluminum siding from your house, and chew her way through a treated 2x6, is nothing to play with. This is not something Herb Spencer would probably crawl under the house to remove. The military option was on the table, but firing a 12 gauge shotgun under the house did not seem too wise. Friendly Fire may ensue from such an operation.
Oddly, internet research showed Raccoons seldom go into a crawlspace to have their Kits. They much prefer an attic or out building or even a tree.
This was a fluke, and I hope I have it all solved!!

are you sure you don't need a permit to fire off a 12 gauge in a crawl space while you are in there?

while all the permits were properly secured and the raccoon is now headed down the road STILL ALIVE i might ad i'm happy you are maybe done with that episode of your life.

I ordered a couple tool pouches yesterday. one for general household and i'll keep the other one loaded for projects and it's first project is a new fence so it might be heavy with plenty of screws, drills and stuff.

I am glad you liked the tool pouch. Of course when you get it, we will all expect you to post it here, loaded, so we can learn what needs to go in one for general household work. I tried and added some boxes of screws and nails to mine (most needed ones) but it made the tote too heavy for my liking. Now I have a compartmentalized suitcase type plastic box for all sorts of screws and nails, and it carries with me pretty well, but it is just ONE MORE THING to worry about. I know why those contractors have the 16 or 18 foot enclosed trailers all fitted with neat shelves, tools, cords, etc.

Yep, raccoon is history with the slamming of the door!

btw: There is nothing I have ever found to combat moles. They have their own system of bugging us in our lawns, and you can't outguess them.

I agree. I don't bother with the animals until they start damaging my property. We had a armadillo issue lately. They would start digging under my foundation. My neighbor owns the golf course in community and need had issues over there too. Need would run the golf course at night and kill them. The ones affecting our houses he took care of with my gun. I originally just wanted to use 22. shot shells but wasn't comfortable lending out my Ruger single six. I gave him trailsman with 2 clips of 22. and about 2 weeks later no more armadillos. I wish my other neighbor would deal with this big overgrown palmetto palms which seem to have raccoons armadillos and everything else in there but refuses to deal with it. The HOA hasn't been any help eithe.

Armadillos can be pretty tough to get rid of, and I doubt shot shells from a .22 would do the trick. I picked up 2,000 .22 shorts a few years ago by accident and it takes a head shot to do the trick. Just so long as I don't catch them in my yard I'll even let them be though. I let everything be other than mice and armadillos.

My wife hates snakes so I take it upon myself to catch one every few months to show the girls they aren't bad, but she hates that. I guess I get a little enjoyment out of tormenting her sometimes.

I have had plenty of trouble here with armadillos as well. They come at night and dig up the yard looking for grubs. Once I caught one in the wife's flower bed and he tried to dig out under the fence from where I found him. I got a pole type limb cutter and caught him by the tail, and drug him down the hill and threw him over the fence into the pasture across the street. He was pretty bunged up but I later saw him again in the yard. They are tough!

This big guy got lost and found my driveway. However, his owner came and got him a few minutes later. (Yep, this IS Arkansas).

This turned out to be the guy's "county fair" entry so he was pretty well looking for it. My wife thinks little pink pigs are cute, but she went in the house when Mr. HAWG showed up!!
ps: I saw a full sized dead raccoon on my way home from the post office today. GOOD!!

The only fault I found on the tote was the same as some of the Amazon reviewers wrote. The pockets are a little shallow for some pliers and screwdrivers. I worked with the set up and it was not a problem for me.

The tote is tough,and I am sure your going to like them. I was unaware on the fire hazards of the 18v batteries. I know the papers say not to throw them away with other trash as it may cause a fire. Looking forward to your posting your contents for the totes and how they all fit in.

HS: a safety tip i learned the hard way and also on GJ as i read more threads here than most.

one or maybe several of our members throw screwdrivers, big steel wrenches and what nots in their tool bags with their batteries for their 12v, 18v and all the sizes bigger that i don't own or know the numbers yet.

so what happened was the steel goes across the connections and can start a fire and or EXPLODE.

in one of those threads i read this another member mentioned throwing a 9v everready battery in his pocket and almost setting his jewels on fire cause coins or a key crossed the negative and positive posts and it exploded.

so here's my experience: i had a quality exercise machine i was moving to a friend's house and i had taken out the 9v battery and set it in my pocket. well about a half mile down the road my pocket is getting real hot so i remember reading about the 9v battery. i pulled over quickly, stopped and grabbed the battery and threw it on the rubber mat (thankfully it was winter and not the carpet mat i use for summer) and the 9v made a nice POP and it came partially out of it's metal case. happy it didn't stay on the penny or coin longer in my pocket that is for certain.

BEE CAREFUL with your rechargable batteries in toolbags or whereever you place them.

We are finally heading out for a little vacation now. We have the cabin we rented last year. I am looking forward to some laid back time. Wetting a hook or many is on top of my list!!
