Used those darn "waterless" ones a few times. It stinks like you know around them.

Use the sink, run the water, it goes into the same pipe. If not the sink, run a Y off the trap and run water in it when done.

But repeated insertion and incomplete extraction may create suction :spit:
Hate to be "that guy" and bring the laws of physics into the discussion. But... displacing the air in the jug would not create a vacuum. Just the opposite, it would create pressure.

Think this through. You shove your weiner in there, pee, air escapes past your weiner, now as you withdraw your weiner, you "grab wall" and make a seal, more withdrawl creates a vacuum. Pretty soon the dang jug is just hanging there off your weiner.

It's almost like a chinese finger trap.

Jim has what I was going to suggest. If your looking for a china urinal (porcelain) you need to look for a salvage, rehab store or a commercial plumbing house. The flush valve is nice but are $100 or so. You can get a self closing valve, either a cross handle or a lever, and do just as well.

Ya - I just used a ball valve - works just fine thank you!

Buy a new urinal but skip the flush valve. Just add a ball valve with 1/4" copper tubing aimed downward from the top. A quick on/off to give a quick rinse and all is well.

The issue with not using a flush valve is not having an air gap. I realize the water comes in the top and being what it is, there will never be any water close to it underneath, but washing machines, urnials, and the like are required to have a air gap inlet plumbing. Old urinals have four wing spring loaded turn knobs, or spring loaded push buttons, but they do have the proper air gap installation. I did stumble into a brand new Sloan flush valve out of the box in a pile of Home Depot return stuff that a local salvage place had for sell. They get large crates of returns from Home Depot and then resell the stuff, this just happened to be in there.

Looking on Ebay I just found one complete in the box Sloan urinal flush valve for $75 BIN, another for $79, and finally stumbled onto one for $50, also BIN ($20 shipping however).

Biggest problem is that most Urinals have a back outlet so you need in the wall drain plumbing. A few, from looking at Ebay, have a bottom drain.

Kohler K-5024-T Darfield, but quite expensive at $180.

American Standard 6581.015.020, just over a $100. Oddly the seller of this Am Standard had "more than ten" and "2 sold" and GET THIS... 30 watchers. Never have I seen so many people watching an Ebay ad before............

A buddy of mine has a urinal at his shop/house that is "waterless" It has a drain, but requires no incoming water. Not sure of the technical details, but apparently there is an oil layer that floats inside the device that allows the pee to pass through, but keeps the stink from the sewer from coming out. He's had it about two years and it seems to work fine. IIR, commercial flush valves need more water flow than you might have in a residential situation.

Hey Fellas
I'm thinking about adding a small wall hung urinal in the garage. Having a hard time finding one. I need a small one with the water in at the top and a drain coming out the bottom. Any of you guys have one? Where can I get a small one?

Piss in a jug. Just saved you money. You can thank me later when your garage doesn't attract gnats and assorted other pee attracted insects.:D

Small urinal small urinal...maybe you could get a real one from a restaurant supply company (I figure they'd have stuff besides grilles and fridges but I might be wrong).

When I was in the Marine Corps there were a lot of piss tubes at the ranges that I always thought were a great solution. Basically they were a piece of pipe about waist high embedded in gravel at about a 45 degree angle. You could even do something like that in an urban area, just build a small screen around it.

I just go piss in the pasture and personally I dont think I would want the hassle of a dedicated urinal in my shop. If I had the means I would just put in a bathroom with a commode.

Nice on 911mike. How could you miss the target on that one. LOL. When I build my shop I will be hanging a Chicago Bears football helmet in there. Drill a few holes inside of it and tape a funnel underneath. Then have a hose come off the funnel and extend thru the wall and into the wash rock "drainfield" just outside the building. Would be very satisfying to use after that amateur team gets lucky! LOL

You must be using one where people have bad aim. I installed one in my garage, and it has NEVER had any smell whatsoever.
