Can anyone give me any information on this Wilton vise? I know it is a light duty vise, just curious as to it's age also what the small peg on top was used for. Any help appreciated.

I’m not a blacksmith, but I believe that little part is called a hardy.

Used for cutting hot steel with a hammer.

You’re lucky it’s still in the vise. Most of the vises I find are missing that accessory.

Age? Wilton started in 1941. It’s marked Wilton Chicago so it predates their move to Schiller Park in 1957. So I assume your vise was made between 1941 and 1957.

The jaws on my vise are 3" wide. The ad posted earlier, refers to a vise as a Juno. After examining my vise, I think it is a 1106 Juno. Sadly, the pipe jaws are missing.
