Smaller than 1/8 FIP fitting, water for icemaker

The clear tubing going to the fridge/icemaker suffered a pinhole leak a day ago. I dragged one son with me to HD to shop tonight.

Instead of the compression nut (?), flared tube stub@, and sleeve that were working, I picked up fittings to go 1/8 FIP to 1/4 FIP to barb.

The 1/8 is smaller than the male thread on the valve. The compression nut threads onto the valve just fine still, so I think things are undamaged and the valve / 1/8 FIP are a mismatch.

Can't run out again tonight so I am googling. What thread is on the valve?

Thats most likely a 1/4" compression fitting. Thats what the ice makers usually use. Get a braided stainless steel ice maker hose instead of the plastic tubing.
