Smart dimmer switch help

Hey guys, the wife picked up a three way smart dimmer switch other day and I’d like to get it installed for her.
I am just not entirely sure which wires should be the travelers based on what I have in the box. I just need some guidance.

Here is the back of the first switch:


The box with both 14/3 and 14/2 coming in.

It looks like the electrician has joined the neutral from above with the black 14/3 heading towards the second box.
Here is the second switch and box.



What I’ve tried:

I’ve connected in the first box:

Black from 14/2 with live on switch
White from 14/3 and black from 14/3with t2
Red from 14/3 with t1
ground to rear of box

In the second box I’ve connected:

Red with T1
White with T2
Black with load
Green to rear of box.

The lights will just flash intermittently.

I’ve contacted an electrician, but living in an isolated region it will be awhile.
Any advice guys? Much appreciated.

It looks like box#1 was originally a switch loop, then converted to a 3-way by running a single 14/3 to box#2.

In box #1, take the blue wirenut off and check if the white is hot.
"down on white, back on black".

How that should work

in box #1
14/2 white is line, connected to 14/3 black,
14/2 black connected to the switch common (load)
14/3 white and red connected to the switch travelers

In box #2
14/3 black is connected to the switch common (line)
14/3 white and red connected to the switch travelers

Possibly relevant
Where does the other black wire in the blue wirenut go?
How is the second switch in box #1 wired? Can see a 14/2 and 14/3 headed under it.

You probably don't have a neutral in box #1
You might be able to grab one from the other switch if its on the same circuit, but not code.

Or if you can get a same circuit neutral in box #2 you can put the 570MA switch there.

Or I could be completely wrong.
