Hello everyone. I thought I'd better put up an intro thread as it seems like I'm settling in to reading here daily.

Thanks for having the place, BTW.

Me? I'm about 50 and a small time corn farmer working in north central Iowa. I've been turning wrenches since I was a kid on the farm and worked at an AAMCO Transmission shop on and off for about 20 years in the winter/summer months.

I've raised pigs for years but got out around 12 years ago, that's where my username comes from. The P is silent, I was a p STY chologist. I've been using that since 1997 or so.

I'm a messy guy who lives in clutter and I'm working to overcome that downfall.

I love tools and everything about garage life. I look forward to your opinions and posts.

You can call me Psty or the pig guy!

Einstein himself is credited with saying "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind ... what is an empty desk a sign of?"

Needless to say, that's my computer's wallpaper.

PSTY: i hear you with the organizing and i'm going to start a thread soon about my storage areas turned back into shop or working space. happy to have another member that knows a thing or two or more too.

ask questions on threads if you don't understand something or share your wisdom if you can to solve or correct something. i probably ask more questions than most people because I was a Realtor for most of my adult life and now that i'm almost 60 I want to learn to weld and make a few things look and work better around the house.

looking forward to your posts and i usually hang in the vise thread and old tools, but get to see a lot of nice garages in the garage gallery too.

can you post up a picture or two of your favorite car, pet or even of your challenging dis organized space and maybe we can help you?

An organized and free mind.

Welcome to the OP. Unfortunately we don't often change our natural habits. But if your tools are all over the place because there is no place to put them, then that's where you start. I never was one to line up my tools because I didn't have the space to do that. So before, all screwdrivers were in the same drawer, but just dumped in there. Now I have enough drawer space to line them up and I can see if one is still out somewhere.
