use a wireless system to turn an AC compressor contactor on and off thru a low voltage transformer. Just make sure it is rated for 100% duty cycle. The wifi smart switch turns on the small transformer that then energizes the contactor that supplies voltage to the door opener.

What turns the contactor off? The motor when it hits the upper and lower limits? To ask it another way I energize the contactor and the door moves up and "hopefully" the motor turns off when the door hits the full open position like it does now. Now I want to mow the lawn and forget to turn the smart plug off supplying power to motor and contactor. Are the contactor contacts welding themselves together?

I'm also an Emporia Vue user and like it a lot, although I don't have my GDO plugged into one of the smart plugs. I'm using them for stuff like Xmas light timing and tracking usage on a dehumidifier

The plugs are rated for something like 1200w continuous, 1800w for 15 min

Our garage door opener has been on an INNR smart plug for a couple of years. We did it so that a burglar breaking into a car parked outside couldn't easily open the garage door. It is on a timer and turns off every evening. If we get home late, we can turn it on from our phone.

When we leave for a vacation we physically lock the garage door.
