Smartside: Pre-finished

The most resent Fine Homebuilding has an advertisement for Smartside siding on the back cover ... "now in colors" . Looking on the Smartside web site ... looks like they are still doing it the same way -- outside finishers and it's not nation wide?

Do not see anything new? Has anyone used the pre-finished?

I have used the wide Hardie pre-finished lap siding with great results. I know many like the Smartside .. they make a no-tapered smooth clapboard that I prefer.


Also -- has anyone used the soffit products from Smartside?

I'm about to finalize the siding for my new addition and I'm going to reside my larger outbuilding with complementary products ....Siding ...new soffits/ facia and gutters. Used Boral for trim and soffits on the last Hardie job

I have all Smartside soffit and siding. For the soffits, I used their pre-vented version which I think is a much cleaner look than the metal rectangular vents attached after the fact. I also looked at prefinished and even got a quote on it before making my decision. In the end, it just wasn't cost effective for me.
